I thought it would be fun to see what everyone likes to watch around the winter holiday season (to be politically correct)...

My personal favorite :

Family tradition every year is to watch National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation.

I watch How the Grinch Stole Christmas, and on occasion, It's A Wonderful Life, and usually at least one of the 8 million A Christmas Carol movies that gets played each year.

But which is the "best"?

I say Muppets.

What about the Muppets Christmas Carol? Michael Caine is always awesome.

And I concur with Scrooged and NLCV.

While it's not an actual Christmas movie, for some reason EVERY YEAR at my dad's house we got into the habit of putting on "Raiders of the Lost Ark" because, as my stepbrother once said, "It's not Christmas without Indiana Jones!". So, yeah.

Otherwise, I watch a lot of "Scrooged" and "A Christmas Story".

As far as "A Christmas Carol" goes, I was brought up watching the 1951 Alastair Sim version (the dude who plays Marley in it is freaking great).

And you can't forget the TV specials. Usually starting the DAY after THANKSGIVING my dvd player becomes ruled by "A Charlie Brown Christmas", the He-Man and She-Ra Christmas Special, and various Christmas-and-winter-themeed episodes of "The Simpsons" ("Simpsons Roasting On An Open Fire", "Mister Plow"...). Also, now that I have the fourth season of "Married.... With Children", I might watch "It's a Bundyful Life", even though it's cut to shit on the DVD.

I was just thinking that in general I liked the Garfield holiday specials more than the Charlie Brown versions.

I agree, though the Garfield Christmas special was a bit too sentimental for my taste. The Halloween one, however... Brilliant. And the Thanksgiving one's good too.

I like the Charlie Brown one where he goes to the National Spelling Bee and has a nervous breakdown. That one taught me an important lesson: never try too hard or you'll go batshit crazy.

And all his friends were total pricks about him losing despite the fact that he got SECOND DAMN PLACE IN THE FINALS.

So yeah, apparently second place is just as bad as last.
