Sigh.
Well, on to rooting for Holland with a clean conscience!

I hope they're better than they were in the last Euro (well, they actually qualified this time).
The only way I could see them win to Germany is if they get underestimated. Germany lost to Serbia after all.
Are English journalists as asshole-ish as I heard they were when it comes to soccer?

US sucked in that one. All right, now I can go back to not caring about soccer at all for four more years. |
Yeah. Really tragic. I'd be fine with it if they played well and still got beaten, but they played like crap and let Ghana win. Really disappointing.
At least there's still England to root for via my wife but to be honest, their chances against Germany don't look good. |
Yeah, I think I'm rooting for England now since I have some friends who live there. Germany will be tough though.

US got outplayed. i dont think they sucked necessarily, but bradley had a bad starting lineup. especially since he subbed in the first half.
ghana is full of fast fuckers. it was hard keeping up w/them.
still disappointing though.

That was your plan all along! I know it!
And yeah username, Ghana just looked peppier and faster as a whole. Altidore was really sucking it up too up front as he had a couple chances for an easy goal, but either stumbled or lost control of the ball every time he got close.

Oh man, just when soccer was gaining momentum in the USA, they get beaten with such ease...
And I'm sorry to say, but unless they get their shit together, England has no chance against Germany.

england got robbed a goal, but germany was just too quick for them. and england seemed sluggish and asleep that first half.
now in 5 minutes, mexico plays. fingers crossed

Well, so much for England. Even without the glaring robbery, they got utterly pwned by Germany.
But that match, and the Mexico one coincidentally, shows exactly why soccer can never become a legitimate sport in the US. Without technology and instant replay, there's just too much potential for cheating/fixing and other shenanigans that soccer is known for. It just becomes a joke.

what a terrible weekend.
USA loses in extra time (nothing against Ghana... just frustrating)
Mexico loses. they had their sails torn apart by a BS goal and that was it.
good thing they're team is young. in 4 years we get rid of blanco, franco, and perez. and hopefully our crew will be better
chile, i dont know anything about you. but good luck tomorrow

Thank you man, but I have pretty much no hope for Chile tomorrow.
In the last 5 games against Brazil, Chile got pretty much kicked to the curb and sent home with the tail between the legs. What comforts me is that the brazilian players are already thinking that they just need to step into the field to win the match, and this only leads to defeat.

I haven't had much time to watch the games (painting fences and shit), but it looks like I didn't miss much. Just more flopping and shitty refereeing.
FIFA said they would look out for cheating and fixed games. Yet they refuse to even consider instant replays. The fuck?
Does the MLS use instant replays during matches, at least to verify goals?
They don't use that dumb "away-goals" rule and Montreal Impact will join them soon, so I'm counting on them to present soccer games in a not-retarded format.

If they gave soccer players the same treatment as college football and basketball players, the sport would grow significantly in quality and populatity in the USA. That's something I've been thinking lately.

well, the USA is a nation of soccer players, but not of soccer fans. i know a lot of people who love playing soccer, but i know very few soccer fans

No Lava, even the MLS refuses to implement instant replay. It's fucking maddening to me how all these heads of soccer leagues just downright refuse to even consider a technology that will make the game more fair and more legitimate.
I'll be rooting for Chile too today Chile Guy, so let's hope for Brazilian overconfidence. And yeah, I agree about college players. They get far too much attention in the states and I'll never understand how people get so excited about college sports. I know there is some loyalty to one's alma mater, but come on, you're 45 and haven't been to that college for 20 years, so get over it. I'm not a big soccer fan, but any professional league should be higher in popularity than a college one.

That's it, just as I expected, Brazil fucked Chile as they did lately.
Now the egos of every brazilian out there are getting bigger and bigger... fuck this, I wanna go home...
Seriously, there's pretty much no team that can beat Brazil at the moment...

^ If I'm not mistaken (and I could be), I think my Dutch Lions play them next. From what I can see, if any team has a prayer of slapping down Brazil, it's the Dutch.

Sorry Chile Guy, I was pulling for them. But yeah, the Dutch looked good again today so they have a good chance at getting rid of Brazil.

Exactly, they play Brazil next, this Friday morning.
But they play exactly like the teams that were beaten so far by Brazil: Offensive.
But I really hope that Robben and his gang outplay them. Otherwise, they're pretty much on the finals already.
The only other teams that MAY do any harm to Brazil are Germany and maybe Argentina and Spain.

The fuck happened with that red card at the end? Every replay I've seen either starts too late or it's too zoomed out and you can't see if the Spanish player got hit or not.
