Yep, I'm back starting these. Nice to have to not go to work.

Next up:

The Smurfs - Tiny blue creatures, each with a specific assigned role and personality, live in the forest happily, except for the evil wizard who wants to eat them.

Captain N: The Game Master - The "best" video game player in the real world is sucked into Videoland to defend it against Mother Brain and her goons. Completely nothing like any sort of video game.

Rocko's Modern Life - The surreal adventures of Rocko, his dog Spunky, and his best pal Heifer as he struggles to make it on his own in the US. Hilarity ensues.

ReBoot - CGI show about life inside of a computer, where the residents fight against both the local virus infections and the Games that the User sends down for his own amusement.

Voted for the Schtroumphs. That was my favorite show as a child. Too bad they stopped airing it when I was 4.
It still aired on the cable, but we didn't have that until like 2000.

If you don't know what Captain N is because you are too young, accept that you missed something awesome growing up and vote for it anyways.

Seriously on this site of all sites, a first round loss for Captain N deserves the forums closing down for at least a week as a penalty for the community for such a travesty.

While I agree with you GP about Captain N (this still is a pop culture site, right?), I'm not sure if I can vote for it in confidence since I hardly ever watched it as a kid. Then again, I don't particulary care for any of the other options either, so I'm somewhat torn between Captain N and Rocko (which I did watch more than a few times though I don't recall liking it all that much).

Rocko's Modern Life just crushes this competition. I don't care if Captain N is made of gold and watching reruns gives me laser vision, Rocko was hilarious and remains so today. Whereas Captain N just looks...embarrassing. To the viewer, to the characters taken from cool video games (I'm talking Belmont and Motherbrain here, not so much Eggplant Wizard), to the decade, just overall embarrassing.

This. It was awesome when we were all mindless video game addled drones. It doesn't hold up well outside that context.

I went ReBoot, if mostly for Season 3. Though I haven't seen 4 yet.

I grew up on 80's and early 90's cartoons...I never once remember seeing this show on, maybe it was on too early...who knows. But I've seen clips on Youtube and they don't look good at all. To fuck up Mega Man and Simon THAT much shows you they didn't know/care that much about the games.

I loved Captain N and used to wake up early before school to watch it. Also, wasn't there an Acclaim show with a similar premise? I know that there was one that had Bigfoot as a character on it, amongst others.

Video Power, or rather a sub-feature of it.

This was before they retooled it into a game show.

Rocko's Modern Life for sure, one of my favorites growing up. ReBoot was alright, I remember watching it, but never been a big fan. Captain N deserves to lose massively, due to massacring Simon Belmont and numerous Mega Man characters. I always hated the Smurfs, even when I was little the show was just blargh and boring.

Bomberman, don't forget what the show did to King Hippo. They made him blue...and to this day, I still don't know why. But boy, did it piss me off when I was younger.

^ So did I! I'm not really tied to any of these in particular, but Captain N is the one I know and liked the best, so it got my vote. Rocko is great from what I understand, but just wasn't my thing.

Rocko was basically a modern day Tex Avery cartoon with many innuendos thrown in, the humor is just even funnier to me as an adult now.

Reboot changed my fucking life. For some reason I have a soft spot for the 90's 3-D pixellation animation, and I think Reboot is the reason for that.
Not to mention I didn't watch any of the other shows, Reboot just wins for me obviously.

Rocko is the better show, and will win without my help. ReBoot has my nostalgia vote, and it holds the position as the only good cartoon where pop culture parodies were a focal point, and still done well.
