See, I like Lost Boys for what it was, and by the way, it's totally fuckin' radical to spray vampires with holy water via Super Soaker!! But in no way is Lost Boys better then Salem's Lot!! NO WAY!!!

Subspecies, a great vampire movie made by Full Moon Entertainment, the company who made the Puppet Master films.

If it weren't for Keanu and Winnona, I would've probably enjoyed Bram Stoker's Dracula a lot more, but Gary Oldman did a fantastic job as always.

Overall Bram Stoker's because it really showed what he had written originally and how he portrayed Dracula and then all the cheesy Hollywood versions became pointless; still fun but pointless.
From Dusk Till Dawn after that. I love the way this was written and directed. Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez had worked together before but this is their best collaborative work. First you get a crime story that only Quentin can tell. Robert could probably do the same but Quentin being well Quentin takes the story to new levels.
I mean how many times have you been holding a family at gunpoint and think the hot one asks you to "eat" something...and then ask her about it later only to find out she never said that. Oh...and his character wears a retainer( I wore one too...in second grade and since I apparently grind my teeth I still wear one.)
Back to the story. I can bet Robert comes to Quentin like this:
RR: "Salma is on board"
QT: "I'll write her in."
RR: "Cool...she will makes this movie money!"
QT: "How do you feel about me drinking hard liquor off her left foot?"
RR: "If you really want to suck her toes that badly..."
QT: "Oh I do...I really want her too! Then I want her to orgasm over my blood and bite me hard!"
RR: "Can we get back to writing?"
QT: "Is the foot fetish scene in?"
RR: "Yeah...now finish the story."
Robert thinks to himself "This Quentin guy is a perv...but for some reason his stuff works."
QT: "I become a vampire! But George Clooney drives a stake in my heart. They kill the vampires...The End. Oh...can we say "Does this look like "Dead Vampire Storage?"
RR: " No! That joke was really offensive originally in Pulp Fiction even though it was not vampires needing storage. Still funny in a bad way but it doesn't work here. So who lives and who dies?"
QT: "Well Juliette Lewis lives because she is hot(and I wrote her character in Natural Born Killers) and so does George Clooney just because he deserves to get away from TV."
And after all that on January 19th 1996 "From Dusk Till Dawn" was released to theaters. On a personal note I still own the VHS release of this movie. The DVD version I own has a running commentary with Quentin Tarantino(RARE!) and everyone else(Robert Rodriguez and friends) Quentin Tarantino generally does not make a commentary on his own movies. At the time this DVD came out it was his first commentary. When Inglourious Basterds comes to DVD I would really KILL for a commentary.

I had to think hard about this one--I guess I just don't watch/get into that many vampire movies. Here are my favorites I could think of:
Classic: Well, tie between Bela Lugosi and Christopher Lee's versions. Either one, really.
Action: Vampires, by John Carpenter staring James Woods as the asskicking vampire hunter. Completely wtf casting, but worked like a motherfucking charm. Carpenter is a genius for casting him, and the photography in the movie, and the brooding mood, is just breathtaking. Plus, we get this scene:
One of my favorite James Woods moments of all time, and that's saying a lot because I am a HUGE fan. Freaking classic. (Also, for those of you keeping score at home, please note Woods improved 99% of that monologue. The man is golden.)
Mindfuck: Shadow of the Vampire. I don't really think I LIKE this movie, so much as respect it. It confuses and creeps the fuck out of me every time I watch it (thanks in no small part to Willem Dafoe's usual stellar performance.) Also, John Malkovich is awesome. And the script is...well, like I said, its pretty much a mindfuck. Great movie though.

I couldn't even make it through "Shadow of the Vampire" and I tried to twice.
This new vampire movie "Daybreakers" looks good, and it has good casting. I made a thread for it somewhere here in movies. It also has your precious Willem DaFoe in it, Hawk.

Wait. SAM NEIL IS IN THIS TOO??? And NOBODY TOLD ME??
I'm glad to know its not in theatres yet. You know what I was confusing it with (for some random reason) is "30 Days of Night." I have no idea why.
I will definitely be seeing this in its first week. Thanks so much for the tip about it!

Haha, I tried to tell everybody! I made a thread about it before Halloween! But nooo, everyone here probably had "New Moon" on the brain and couldn't digest anymore vampire information.

Ugh. I probably even replied to that thread and sounded excited, but its completely filtered out of my brain due to finals and annoying end-of-year military obligations.
Oh well. At least I got to be pleasantly surprised twice!

Aside from John Carpenter's and Robert Rodriguez's, which are both epic, I have to go with...

I really enjoy the Underworld series, Blade, and though it isn't a movie, True Blood.
