We need more discussion of Coheed and Cambria on the forums, as there only seemed to be one thread three years ago that got 8 posts.
I may have only gotten into them in late May, but they've become my third favorite band after Rush and Metallica. For comparison, I counted the playcounts of said artists on Itunes, and did a comparison.
Metallica (since 6/2008): 1843 Plays
Rush (since 6/2008): 1676 Plays
Coheed (since 5/28/2009): 1349 Plays

And that's not including watching videos on DVD, YouTube, or on CD.

Admittedly, the Amory Wars storyline that goes with the music confuses the hell out of me, but I'm all about the music, so I'll discuss that. Yes, we all know "Welcome Home", but as far as I'm concerned, the live version of "Devil in Jersey City" is where it's at:

I just love everything about this band, Claudio's voice, Travis's lead work, Mic's bass, and even the drumming of Josh Eppard/Chris Pennie (yes I know Taylor Hawkins drummed on "No World for Tomorrow) stands out in a big way. Heck, I even love pre-Coheed band Shabuite. My guitarist gives me shit because they're "emo", but fuck him, he likes Atreyu and Iwrestledabearonce.
So I guess I'll ask, any other fans here?

Your guitarist likes Iwrestledabearonce? Dude, time to search for a new one.

And Coheed rocks balls. I haven't gotten into them too heavy yet, but Zizzaria and Cassy and I rock out to it in the car.

Does anybody here have a Ross Rifle?

I really don't like the sound of their singer. Their only song that I like is Welcome Home.

I enjoy Welcome Home some days, and other days I find it obnoxious. I can't seem to make up my mind about them.

WTF, his voice is a combination of Jesus and Geddy Lee!

Yeah, I actually kind of have to agree with Ash. When I heard Coheed and Cambria for the first time, I was like, "Wow, Rush put out a new album? It's pretty badass." Then I listened more and realized that I'd much rather hear 2012 again. Maybe I'm just prejudiced against music that discusses dystopian future scenarios, though... Gary Numann's "ME" is one of my favorite songs of all time. Go ahead and judge, fuckers, I've had it all before.

Who likes role-playing games? Me. Way too goddamn much.

Then Jesus must have had a very whiny voice.

The guitar is not bad, the bass is aight, the drums are drums, but the the singers voice literally cracks at points in that video.

It's not rape if you rape everyone who accuses you.

His voice does do that sometimes live, largely because of Claudio's acid reflux disease plus years of smoking. But I could see why people don't like his voice, it's very 'love it or hate it". Although I will say that Mic Todd is a beast of a bass player, although it doesn't show in that song as much as it shows in "Time Consumer", "Neverender", or "God Send Conspirator", etc.

I'd also like to say that "Welcome Home" doesn't really sound like any of their other songs, especially from the first two albums. Razz

Fixed.
