So I'm curious as what your opinions on Primus are.
I hear them getting mixed reviews.
The usual complaints i hear are about the vocals or from guitarists cause the bass is a lead instrument and that annoys them for some reason *shrugs*.

Primus is full of win just for being so original, even if you don't care for their sound.

They are three of the most talented musicians, in their individual fields.
And, they write fantastic TV themes.

PRIMUS SUCKS! I do love me some Primus, and I even had the privilege of seeing Les Claypool live in concert for my 17th birthday. He was a big influence on my bass playing back in the day, not so much anymore, though. There is a lot of filler on the Primus albums I have, though. I find it interesting that Larry LaLonde came from Possessed (death metal) and Les Claypool came from Blind Illusion (progressive thrash), and they both joined together to create funk rock.
Also, by bass law, I am required to post this:
That was the second biggest influence on my bass playing, second only to "For Whom the Bell Tolls" from "Cliff 'Em All".

They're Primus and they suck. They're zany as a band can be and can create unique 'melodies'. That's why I like them.

I am embarrassed to even have this recollection, but in D3: The Mighty Ducks doesn't Joshua Jackson ask the most down to earth girl in the movie if she likes music with her reply that she likes Primus?

It may be forgivable under certain circumstances.
They however must be corrected to say Primus sucks!

I like a few of their songs ("Golden Boy" possibly being my favorite) but overall I don't like them that much. I'd rather listen to Possessed.

I absolutely love Primus. "Suck On This", was so influential to me in becoming the musician that I am today. It remolded what I thought I knew about music. Despite Claypool being a freakin' weirdo, I still love the man for his raw talent.

One of the reasons i love him is cause hes a weirdo. His mannerisms and the way he generally gets on is absolutely hilarious.

They are fantastic. I also enjoy Oysterhead and C2B3. Oh and Gabby La La is kinda fun too.

Oysterhead rocked. One of the few jam-bands I could dig. "Oz is Ever Floating" is definitely in my top 10 favorite songs.
On topic, I fucking love Primus. There's something great when talented musicians want to create something great without being full of themselves.
So here's to you Mrs. Robinson. People love you more- oh, nevermind.

You know what I think of when I think of Primus?
"I had a friend that took a belt, took a belt and hung himself, hung himself in the doorway of the apartment where he lived..."
I still remember buying Pork Soda and getting that stuck in my head for like, a week. My mom used to get pissed off when I'd walk around the house singing it over and over... she said it was sick.
<Drew_Linky> Well, I've eaten vegetables all of once in my life.

I'm going down to South Park and meet some friends of mine. *fart noise*
Technically, it's from another band with Les Claypool in it, but hey? He gets credit for playing the South Park theme song AND appearing on the early openings.

The original theme was Primus.
The other theme from around season ten was a remix of the original with "Whamola" from the Les Claypool Frog Brigade.
I would also like to point towards this amazing performance of precipitation i heard yesterday. Even better than the album version:

I'm pretty sure she says Pantera, not Primus . . . it was a bit of an inside joke among me and my friends in high school when Charlies responds "NO WAY! I LOVE PANTERA!"
and as for my thoughts on Primus and Claypool related projects, I think my username speaks for itself
you sum up Primus in 3 sentences:
nobody plays the bass and "sings" like Les Claypool
nobody plays the guitar like Larry LaLonde
nobody drums like Tim Alexander and Brian Mantia is rather unique in his own right

I saw Primus at Ozzfest '99
They brought out Buckethead and played The Ballad of Buckethead. I was scared and confused.
Years later, Buckethead joined GN'R. I was scared and confused.
I think Claypool defined their legacy best in the one song done with Oysterhead called Mr. Oysterhead "when all else has been done and said, you best look out for mr. oysterhead"
Primus fucking SUCKS.
I don't have a signature. Sorry. Try again later.. probably not though.
