So,
I'm playin through Donkey Kong (the original arcade game one) for NES, and I was playing to see if there was an ending, and the levels count up from 1-10 and A to at least N (I assume it goes up to Z). Is there something that happens at the end of all of this or does it just keep going around?
(Obviously, I am rewinding my emulator and using save states, I just want to see if there is an actual ending or not.)

Well it's hard to say but if it is really a clone of the arcade game it should go to a kill screen. Guess I never played the nes version enough to notice any difference in the two though.

I have the Donkey Kong Classics game, and I only counted 3 different levels, although I clearly remember 4.
1. Ramps and ladders
2. Conveyer belts and pies
3. Some bouncing thing that continually keeps reappearing after falling
4. Platform with the bolts you remove to drop Donkey on his fucking skull
Not sure if the original NES release has them all, but I'm pretty sure the second level was removed from "Classics"

Yeah, level 2 was gone for the NES version. I regret downloading the VC version.
$5 I'll never see again.

Many people consider the Game Boy version to be the definitive one.

It is the definitive one. That game is fucking Boss, man. It's unbelievable. Best GB game I have ever played, no doubt.
Doddsino, I wasn't talking about the number of levels in the game itself. I was talking about the number of "levels" - IE groups of levels 1 thru 3. The little number (or letter) is just to the right of the bonus clock.

I knew what you meant, I've played through the original and it keeps looping, I'm just talking about the levels themselves.
And to cut a level...why the hell would you cut 2? I mean 3 was by far the hardest level...that owned me for a very long time.

There wasn't enough ROM memory in the cart to hold the whole third level.

How is that possible? There are only four different game screens! How come they could fit something as complex as Legend of Zelda on a cart, but not that?

They were probably just lazy and blamed it on the cart-space, but yeah I freakin' love DK on the Game Boy. The Mario Vs. DK games on GBA and DS are cool too, and I recommend them if you like the GB one.

I think thats what I read on GameFAQs or Gamespot or something. I was just looking for an ending. I'm playing it all the way through the kill screen if I can.

I suppose it's possible. It was a Famicom launch title, and it's possible the original carts were too small to hold the entire game. Then when they decided to release it in North America, they were too lazy to fix it. And it wasn't even an American launch title!

It's an exchange from Billy Madison. A kid says Mortal Kombat on the Sega Genesis is the best game ever, and Billy says that while that is a very good game, Donkey Kong is the best game ever.

UPDATE: You at least play the numbers from 1-10, and A-Z. After that, the game starts using symbols from the game (like the parenthesis and a little part of the BONUS wordthing.)
I'm going to play it until I can't and then take a screen shot for y'all.
Often, in the first stage (barrels) after letter L or so, it starts fucking up like the cartridge was moved a little bit.
BTW Im at 997400 pts. But, it's irrelevant because I'm cheating like a bitch. I'm nearly at Wiebe levels!
QUICK EDIT: I hit 1,000,000. My score keeps going up (rolled back to 000000), but the Top score stayed at 999990.

I know there isnt, but can it go over and over before it repeats itself? I bet you that there is no kill screen, it just goes back to level 1.
I know there is no "ending".
