So I was playing my Super Nintendo Today and I decided to go into my shoot-em up collection. I had to choose between Super R-type, R-Type III, Gradius III, and Darius Twin. Now, the first three games all have a name for themselves and are great (although ass-rapingly hard), but today I decided to dust off Darius Twin and see how it stacks up.

After playing this game for over two hours I have to say, not only does it compare with the other Super Nintendo Shooters, to me, its better. It is hard, but not throw your controller through a fucking wall hard. It has a shitload of power-ups, and guess what? You cant fuck up your power ups by accidentally picking up a shitty one. And the topper you may ask? Your in a spaceship, killing fucking Sea Creatures! I love that. I haven't played this game in quite a while, but I must say, it is great. If you get the chance to play this, you should. It doesn't get the play of Gradius or R-Type, but this game is just a solid as those. Even if it didnt beat out Tiny Toon Adventures on Syd's list. WTF.

Bio-Hazard Battle's cooler, because in the first level you take on squadrons of GIANT FLYING SQUID.

But it IS pretty damn hard though, especially the last two stages...

I hate the difficulty curve in the game. It's pretty smooth sailing until the last level, which was brutal. You got it right on the upgrade system though.

So here's to you Mrs. Robinson. People love you more- oh, nevermind.

The big reason why I would rank Darius Twin up with the Gradius's and R-type's is because of it's co-op function. Otherwise, I think it ranks slightly below the other big shooter titles with regards to it's single player mode.

Can anyone recommend some other good side-scoller shooter titles with co-op mode?
