This only takes into account the original incarnation of the Ninja Gaiden series:
Ninja Gaiden
Ninja Gaiden 2: The Dark Sword of Chaos
Ninja Gaiden 3: The Ancient Ship of Doom
EDIT: I checked the names against the Instruction Manuals

Its all about the windmill star. Simple and effective, bonus for dodging its return and having it circle you like some UFO of death.

Before I give my ultimate answer this is my breakdown by game:
Ninja Gaiden: Jump and Slash
Ninja Gaiden 2: Windmill Star
Ninja Gaiden 3: Art of the Fire Wheel
Though the Windmill Star blows in NG3 that thing has been a protective shield around me in the first 2 games., it my absolute favorite weapon of the series.
#2 is Jump and Slash. Get to any boss with it. 2 hits tops if you have no jumping room(like against Bomberhead) and one of the few ways I can beat the Masked Devil in NG1. This was a weapon broken from the start and it's removal made sense.
Replacing it with the Splitting Yourself? Maybe not the best of ideas
I want to see an Ultimate Ninja Gaiden hack that can find some balance of the Soul Splitting Move and Jump and Slash to be able to use them both(without lessening their power) in an all new game.

Invincible Fire Wheel for me. Sure, it may feel cheap to use against your enemies since they have no chance, but it doesn't last forever so it's not too bad. If you have no problem using the stars from the Super Mario Bros. games, then go for the Invincible Fire Wheel!

I do think the firewheel is great, but it's too situational. Like it's great in level 2 clearing those dagger throwing grim reaper guys, and the first form of jaquio, but still neutralizing both of those characters can also still easily be done with the windmill star

I'm all about red transparent Ninja Clones that can hit stuff below you when you're climbing a wall.

I say Guy-den. And have always said Guy-den, actually. I didn't hear anyone pronounce it "Gay-den" until college. Which is kinda weird.

I always kinda liked the basic Katana attack. No special move there, just slice.
That is probably why I can't beat the first fucking level.
