Well, I've always wanted to build one but never had the time or space to actually do it.... but someday...

I've been dicking around with that concept for a while, actually. I'm just waiting for IKEA to start selling cabinet bases, tho.

Why, you want to pay way too much?

If you have a local arcade vendor, then call and ask for a empty shell or a broken unit. They usually go for $100 or less. That or search craigslist for a broken machine. Alot of the time, people will let these go for free, just so they don't have to haul them away themselves.

I saw a mod once for Doom that turned it into an Arcade game. Wouldn't it be a hoot to have a Doom arcade machine? Make people who believed the rumor of a Doom Arcade version in the 90's kick themselves Razz

I love the thought of a MAME cabinet. Not only can it play Arcade titles in true fashion, but it's still a computer, so you can also play other games with an arcade layout! Do I hear Fallout 3 Arcade version, gentlemen?

And FNJ, MUGEN arcade would be pretty epic

Real or not, a DOOM arcade machine appeared in the movie Grosse Point Blank.

I keep meaning to work on one, but I haven't had the time or the space. I have the space now, so maybe I'll order in all of the parts. I still need to get a decent set of plans, though. I did some 3D mock-ups that looked alright, but I want the real measurements from a Street Fighter machine (I'll be using it for mostly fighting games). Too bad the only arcade in town closed, they had a Street Fighter III machine that I could have measured.
