Those bastards.
Actually, this is a pretty entertaining read. Fun for nostalgia value, and also for some of the howlers that slipped past QC. Case in point, the original TMNT for the NES:

"A fun, challenging game with crisp graphics." SOMEONE obviously never made it all the way to that motherfucking dam level.

If it's like any of the other opinions that IGN has, I'll stay away from it. Seriously, their "ratings" are some of the worst I've ever seen, I would NEVER trust their judgement, and their forums are among the worst and most annoying. I'll stick to Syd's list.

They even stole our 'must-be-released-in-the-US' criteria!

I know! That's what made me double take. I mean, top video game list is nothing new at all. Top NES, also not new. Top *100* is pretty specific. And then they just cut and pasted all the Sydlexia list rules and put it on Digg
HAHAHAHA look at #86! O..m...g...can't breathe...laughing too hard...holy shit....
http://www.ign.com/top-100-nes-games/86.html
Seriously. That is almost without question the WORST NES game of all time, and it somehow ends up in front of a MEGA MAN TITLE, DW III, and Guardian Legend?! God these guys are assholes.

Because that dam was coded by Satan himself, that's why. That was a job he didn't even delegate to his flunkies, he hand-placed every last miserable turtle-eating seaweed and electric plant in that frigging level.
(Most of this is residual anger of course. The dam's not really a sweat anymore since I know exactly where to go and what to do. But when I was eight, it was pure hell.)

When I got to Dragon Warrior 3 at 96, I almost stopped reading. I haven't been this upset since I found out Eddie was only two above Joni Mitchell on Rolling Stones top 100 guitarists.

With the exceptions of Fester's Quest, Qix and Zombie Nation, it looks like the entire list was copy pasted and mixed up slightly. Not only that, a lot of these don't even look to be in order...amateurs.

Seconded. The dam never gave me much trouble once I memorized the map, and actually, the only part I even got hit at was the stupid electrified seaweed corridor.

Not only is that not right, that's not even wrong. It's a meaningless statement. Saying something is "one molecule away" from plastic is like saying a farm is one letter away from a fart. Water is "one molecule away" from being explosive hydrogen gas. |

Not me! I officially outed IGN to Syd!
I heard about that hotlink, btw. Fucking hilarious. God IGN sucks. (Although I'll admit they're often good for a laugh.)

It must have been McPoopenstein. She probably worked for IGN the whole time. Now she lurks, waiting for some good material to steal. It's internet pop culture espionage!

I haven't looked at the list. Is Fester's Quest on there instead of Blaster Master?

Fester's Quest was okay, but it was the weakest of the Sunsoft games. Not as deserving of a spot as Batman, Journey To Silius, or Blaster Master. Hell, even Gremlins 2 was better.
Can someone post the whole list?
