Not sure if anyone is familiar with this, but TCM is having a 7 part documentary about the history of film making on Mondays. Tonight they played the second episode, which went into detail about the early history of Hollywood. Very interesting stuff, I definitely recommend this to anyone who is a big history buff, it goes into a lot of detail that most shows normally wouldn't.

Haven't seen the TCM series, but it sounds like I would enjoy it. I don't suppose it's online anywhere?

The stuff about Edison is true, though. However, Edison was no golden boy himself, having royally fucked over Nikola Tesla on just about everything.

Yeah, Edison fucked Tesla over pretty bad. I'm still hoping plans for Tesla's death ray might resurface some day.

The real potential is in the Tesla turbine. Ten horsepower for every pound of weight, in theory.
