So I watched this movie last night and again today. I was fairly intoxicated the first time I watched it. At first I didn't really know what to make of it, mainly because of the intoxication. The second time through I thought it made a lot more sense. I think I liked but there are a few things I didn’t like and some stuff I can’t put my finger on.

Some of the Beatles references felt forced however. Like when Prudence comes and somebody asked where she came from and the Jude character says “She came in through the bathroom window.” Or when you see Max trying to repair a fan by smacking it with a hammer.

I think the story was pretty well done and most of the musical scenes were really cool. I liked the Uncle Sam scene quite a bit as well as the With A Little Help From My Friends part. The Happiness Is A Warm Gun part was also well done.

It did seem a bit too long in some places. For example you think the movie is about to end only to see there is another twenty minutes still to go. For example when Jude gets sent back to England and he is sitting on the beach that would have been a fine place to end the movie since it mirrored the opening scene.

Also the movie takes place over a two year period but the historical events used in the movie take place over a nine or ten year period. So the events felt really rushed or only skimmed over.

I liked most of the musical scenes except the one with the circus which featured the song Being For The Benefit of Mr. Kite, that scene felt kind of unnecessary and in my opinion didn’t really add anything to the story.

Still overall I enjoyed it even though there are things that really bother me for some reason. Not the stuff I already mentioned but something that just lingers in my mind about the movie, stuff I can’t put my finger on. However the stuff that was good about the movie was done really well. It is definitely worth a watch.
