Now I like almost any game that involves me obliterating horde after horde of zombies, mutants and right-wing christian conservatives with nothing more then a pistol or even your mitts.
On a whim I purchased Killing Floor today. I was half-expecting a rip-off of L4D or maybe even a little more surperior version of Zombie Panic Source. This, howerver in my opinion was On Parthen L4D.
1. Price- The game was only $20.00 which isn't that bad for a pc game off of steam, whereas most people bought L4D for $50.00 or $30.00. While both games have a close price range, quality and quantity is a major factor here when it runs into money. Do you want to pay 50 bucks for a game that COULD have more content added on and would that Content be good? Point to Killing Floor.
2. Gameplay- While both are similar, L4D is an objective based gameplay that utilizes Co-Op. Killing Floor is Squad Co-Op. The whole point of Killing Floor is just to survive with your teammates and hope that they have your back because you must have thiers covered at all times. I didn't play to exstensively into Killing Floor, but L4D had the awesome Vs. mode which allowed you to play as the super zombies against a team of humans. This adds a unique use of strategy of "Once I grab ahold of Louis with the smoker, Boom the Hell out of him. Then when Francis and Zoey come to save him, Pounce him with the hunters. Boomer will have to hold Bill but hopefully we'll get at least one" kind of moments. Killing Floor was more of Squad based, I'll take point and move forward, you watch my back. Point to L4D
3.Characters- L4D, you learn to love the survivors. Bill is the dick, francis the old guy, Zoey the geek and Louis the token black guy (no offense). In addition to this, the super zombies even have thier own traits. I have to laugh everytime I play with a boomer because he looks like Bender from Futurama when he became human. Killing Floor tries to appeal to the Zombie lovers, but when it comes to humans, cliched sniper man or commando_1 skin just doesn't cut it. Point L4D
4. Weapons- Killing Floor has a merchant which allows you to purchase various weapons to get the job done. L4D... you just find guns lying around and they never change. EVER! Sure the places change and you might find a Molotov Cocktail when you hope to god that M4 is there. It's quite simple, if you are going to kill zombies HAVE A FUCKING LOAD OUT THAT IS GOOD! Point to Killing Floor
5 Overall Satisfaction- While I haven't exactly delved into the entirety of the Killing Floor yet and only played a match of online play I can't fully say I'm fully satisfied with the game. L4D however, I love the game but I thank GOD that I didn't pay a full $50 when it first came out and bought it when the game was on sale for $25.00. In addition to this, Killing Floor may or may not have a sequel. It hasn't been decided so this maybe the only game which this series may have. L4D2 is being worked on as we say, which pisses me off because they made so many promises as to having alot of DLC for the games, but it doesn't matter. For it's price I'm going to say Killing Floor is the better choice, until L4D is around the same price. So if you want to kill a nearly endless onslought of Zombies Buy Killing Floor

Would this happen to be a PC game?

Am I the only one that doesn't trust steam? I just don't feel comfortable not having a hard copy of the things I'm buying.

I don't 100% trust it either, I mostly just use it for demos and Half Life because there currently isn't any pre paid cards available like the PSN, XBL, or Wii Shop Channel.

It's probably best to get used to digital downloads now.

It's not that bad. They are secure and everything is protected heavily on Steam. I have a majority of my games bought off of steam even though I am an avid hater of it.

Definitely, but until they really do what they can to make a workable DRM system, it'll be a painful transition
