I've been talking to Syd about this since before the forums had even gone live and he was asking me to help him with the first draft of the forum rules. I've always been annoyed, but Murdar has crossed the fucking line. As far as I'm concerned, there should be NO graphics in signatures, and no animated avatars (Sorry, Black Zarak). Looking for people's opinions on this so I can prove to Syd I'm not alone.

Personally, I have nothing against animated sigs. It's just certain parties seem to have abused it recently. I'm not sure if a "zero tolerance" policy is necessary, but these "animations" are a problem.
Also, animated avatars are usually not a problem unless someone goes out of their way to make it such. I'm not sure banning them altogether is the "water can't be brought on airplanes" solution we need.

Maybe I am offering a "no water on airplanes" solution, but this is what I presented to Syd BEFORE the forums were even up. Images in sigs are normally there for one of two purposes: 1. to advertise a website (like a banner), or 2. to MAKE you police them. Getting rid of them just seems to solve the problem, as everyone on here's plugged there stuff without needing a banner ad.

I'm only alone on the matter of animated avatars. On the more important "no images in sigs", I'm clearly not alone. Excellent contribution to the forum though.

i dont really care either way, i just dont think it really warrants a forum, or even complaining, about it. yours is somewhat seizure inducing, so it would probably have to go under big brother's new watchful eye. if this sight is based in america then i say FREEDOM OF SPEACH AND SIGS!

Well, here's the thing. In case no one's notice, I have a picture in my sig. And for a brief time, I even had an animated sig:
I have no desire to ban images in sigs, and it looks like most of you agree with me. 59% of people who have voted in the matter so far are against banning images in sigs. Since there's no feasible way to ban animated images in sigs without banning all images in sigs, animated images get to stay.
Even if I could, that wouldn't stop people from being obnoxious if they really want to. Instead of animated gifs, they'd just use giant fonts or something.
If your signature is really really annoying, it'll be changed. Other than that, I am not one to stifle people's creativity.

niku, sorry I believe there should be some sort of order. The animated sigs just make it really hard for me to read the forums, probably because they're animated at such a fast rate. Don't worry, I'm sure my presense isn't a big deal anyway.
