Fast And The Furious Writer To Pen Wheel Of Time Games

Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time is regarded as one of the best fantasy series ever written. But now that Jordan has passed on, who should write the upcoming video games? How about Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift writer Chris Morgan? Because that's who it's going to be.

"As a massive fan of The Wheel of Time series, and a lifelong gamer, I jumped at the chance to be part of the Red Eagle Games team," Morgan said in the official release.

"The world that Robert Jordan created is so rich, the characters and storylines so varied and inventive, that I feel like a kid in a candy store. It's really a dream opportunity for me." Wanted, Wanted: Weapons of Fate, Cellular and the forthcoming Gears of War film adaptation.

Word hit last year that Red Eagle Entertainment has big plans for Wheel of Time, having a struck a deal with Universal Pictures to make a feature film. On the game side, Electronic Arts will be handling distribution.

So brace yourself, because there's a lot of Wheel of Time on the way, and the man behind Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift is one of the people leading the charge.

i got tired of these books after part 5, but because of my OCD, i have read all the books so far. but, this is still bad news. Wanted, the movie, sucked imo and i never cared for the Fast & the Furious, so i dont have any hope for the movie or game.

anyone else care for this? or am i the only WoT dork here?

Oh no, I am a HUGE WoT dork. Like, epically. If I could be any fantasy character, Perrin Abyara would be right up there as a top pick.

I'm speechless about the movie writer though. Maybe he'll shock us and do a good job, but...why couldn't they just get the guy who finished Jordan's novels to do it? Sad

This is going to be a shitty hack n' slash, isn't it. And I'm going to hate it, aren't I? *siiiiiiigh*

The original Wheel of Time game, while a sleeper hit, was still a massive hit and is considered one of the best PC games of all time.

I love WoT, although admittedly I only had the patience to read up to the 5th book (but I do intend to start again really soon), I'd love to play some games based on the universe. I always though the books would make great films and often imagined them as movies when I was reading them. Hell, if they can do LOTR and Harry Potter, why not WoT which is so much richer?

The writer is an odd choice though. I like the Fast and Furious films so initially it seemed like a decent choice, but it turns out the guy only wrote the worst film in the series, Tokyo Drift; bleh. Oh well, I guess writing in video games isn't quite as important as writing for a film, so I have high hopes.

you should start reading them again since the 1st part of the final book (its being split up into three books) releases in november. already have mine on preorder.

also, a WoT RTS would rule. there are so many different factions and armies you could use in that universe that an RTS is basically a no-brainer.
