Apparently they're concerned that some families might be offended the money came from half-naked women. Cuz you know, when your kid is dying of cancer and you can't afford to take her to Disneyland, who donated the money to Make-A-Wish is super fucking important.

This reminds me of when those christian groups declined money from D&D players because they think they worship the devil.

The article wasn't about this, but I always find it amusing when women's groups claim that bikini carwashes, Hooters restaurants and the like are disrespectful towards women.

If they kept those Hooters waitresses chained up in the basement during off hours, I might be inclined to agree. But I'm pretty sure they all applied for those jobs.

I think my wish would be to have a bikini ME wash.

But seriously folks, beautiful, nubile, half naked women definitely are offensive, for sure.

I thought the exact same thing when I read the OP, nice insight Josh.

Not only that, but I am fairly sure (and from what I have heard) the application process for establishments like Hooters is quite rigorous and competitive.

I assume they see it (wheather they say so or not) as some kind of slippery slope. Because if you accept the bikini car wash money, pretty soon people will be doing pole stripping and lap dances in the name of Make-A-Wish. Rolling Eyes

As stupid as that is, I do see where they're coming from. But couldn't you just set that money aside and give it to families who AREN'T offended by that, thus freeing up more "impure" funds for the people bothered by the idea? No matter how you slice it, it feels pretty cold to turn down money that could help a dying kid. I mean, if it was mob money, or money got through murder or something, then yeah. But a bikini car wash? *sigh*

So...

The fact is they are still raising money and they are generous enough to give it to a very charitable cause. It's origins should be of no concern at that point.

Seems like a good idea to me, sounds like they go hand in hand.
