I don't thinks this actually ruins the game, but in Fight Night Round 3 for the 360 when you are playing through the career they make you do those mini games in between each fight to level up your boxer. I understand you need a way to level up but couldn't they have tried to make it a little more interesting? And what's worse is you pretty much have to actually play the mini games because just doing auto train only levels you up half as much.

Cut the sexism crap. I was recently hanging out with my friend, and she knew I wanted to get a copy of Psychonauts (Rare in my area, because people only play sports games and shitty shooters, and Gamestops don't buy new games), and I flat-out refused to go there, because that particular Gamestop is full of posters and cardboard cutouts of half-naked, big-boobed game girls. I felt like a pervert for going in and buying a copy of a cartoony game with no nudity and only says "ass" like twice. I almost got my sister to play Guitar Hero with me (we rarely talk, and she hasn't touched a game since Street Fighter 2), but flat-out refused when I randomly got assigned Casey as my guitarist. She called them game sexist and refused to play. I'm not saying they have to make women in games fat and ugly, but don't make it uncomfortable to play in the presence of some people.

are you gay?

Are you projecting?

Unfortunately, lagging is always going to be a part of online games, despite how much I agree. Sometimes there'll be that one computer with piss-poor performance and lots of other people get dragged down with it.

Also, imo, Maple Story does NOT suck. NEXON does. Mostly.

Furthermore, I myself am not one who'll judge someone's orientation because they feel strongly against sexism. I myself was in something of a situation like that, though I morely got myself out. During college, while I had a girlfriend, I went to a mall nearby and bought DOA XBV, mainly because I'm a huge fan of DOA. On my way out of the mall, I took another look at the game, and ultimately reconsidered. It wasn't that I was uncomfortable, rather it was because, as a guy with a relationship, I didn't need to throw a game like that in and risk generating negative opinions.

The AI in Madden football games. I remember a couple years ago when I had the '06 version, and I was playing as the 49ers. Anyways, I was facing the Seahawks, and they pulled off a decent drive, but was forced to punt. After that, they barely even tried. And what irritates me is that the computer doesn't even bother trying, regardless of the difficulty level.

Thing is, it's hard to feel like I have respect for the video game industry when a lot of the stuff seems so gender exclusive. If a game portrayed black people as loving fried chicken and talking like Mammy, or Latinos wearing sombreros and eating tacos, everyone would be offended, so why not be a little pissed off that 90% of women in the games are usually:

1)Tall, big-boobed, tiny-waisted, wide-hipped
2)Either insultingly ditzy or patronizingly tough to the point of bulldyke-ish
3)Almost always some kind of love interest who buckles under a male's charm like a good slave

Do you wonder why women flock out to buy stuff like Animal Crossing and cartoony Wii Games? According to surveys, women like to feel comfortable while playing games, and they generally respond to stuff like Bloodrayne and DOAX like they respond to Playboy or movies of the same kind. It will help the industry sell more, plus remove the old stereotypes that all gamers are a bunch of sexually repressed social rejects.

The worst part is when this stuff is in an otherwise good game. I can't play Soul Calibur when my parents are home.

Where the hell did you find surveys, (and I assume since it's plural you mean more than one), regarding if women like to feel comfortable playing videogames? And out of curiosity, how many said they preferred to feel uncomfortable?

I have never in my life met a girl who felt any of these types of feelings about videogames they've seen me play, been insulted, or even backed down to playing them too! Mind you, many of these girls are the big-boobed, tiny-waisted kind you speak of. Cool And about your female friend and sister, well that's just silly. And that isn't really sexism.

I've got to say, this sounds like a feminazi is holding you at gunpoint.

In my experience, very few women know anything about videogames, and even fewer actually enjoy playing them with any regularity. (And even then, it's not usually a game like Tomb Raider or Final Fantasy).

Videogames always have been and always will be a male-dominated medium. It's only natural that game makers design their products to fit that demographic. I find it hard to believe that a woman with a good head on her shoulders could be truly offended by the content of a game. There are far more offensive things in TV, movies and music, which are mediums to which females pay a lot more attention.

Furthermore, in today's games, women are typically depicted as "empowered" rather than ditzy, slutty or in constant need of a strong man to protect them. If I'm not mistaken, this is the image that most feminists want to put up on a pedastal.

As someone above mentioned, I would really like to see these supposed surveys in which women claim they want to feel "comfortable" while playing a videogame. Until today I've never even heard of such a thing.

On a final note, if we gamers are truly being stereotyped as "sexually-repressed social rejects," I don't think we're the only ones living in a bubble of ignorance.

I agree that it's silly to have the vast majority of female characters shoehorned into these stereotypes, but then again, pretty much all characters in games these days are stereotypes of some sort. It's not always just the girls that are the problem.

As for is it sexist or not, I have several female friends ready and willing to play games like this, so I'm not about to play the "girls only play Animal Crossing and kid crap" card. (Although they play way too much Harvest Moon as far as I'm concerned)

Ah, I'm not really in the mood to keep up an argument that seems to be pissing everyone off, so I'll just let it rest.

I'd like to see some more sims for consoles. I used to love playing Operation Flashpoint and the old Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six games. It seems that any military-themed game nowadays has to be re-worked to appeal to younger or casual gamers with little attention span. PC junkies will say it's because consoles don't have a keyboard, and therefore have less options, but games like Sniper Elite managed to do sims in such a way. I really hope Operation Flashpoint 2 and the new IL2 Sturmovik games can shut me up about it.

So here's to you Mrs. Robinson. People love you more- oh, nevermind.

I was referring to the AIPCs, not the zombies. How could a zombie have bad AI? It's a zombie.

I'm seeing that someone put a Youtube video in this thread, but I can't get it to load...stupid dial-up...

One problem some games have is when you miss something important or helpful on your first try, you can never go back and retrieve it.

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned save points, yet.

Oh definately, when a game doesnt have save points and you lose all your lives or you die , your Fucked. A good example of this is SMB 3 I love the game but I wish it had save states, but thankfully Nintendo fixed that with Super Mario All-Stars

Dude by the time I get to World 8 I have like 60 lives or more sometimes... I do know what ya mean though, sometimes I don't feel like playing the whole thing in one sitting. All-Stars just doesn't have the same SMB 3 "feel."

PADDING. FUCKING. PADDING.

God, I hate it when these Super-Awesome-Graphically-Based games have stretches of landscapes that force you to spend hours of your precious time to get to some next town or something.

Escort missions also suck hard, but that was already mentioned, so I'm going with padding.

Also: as a female who does enjoy the occasional video game or two, I don't think that games are particularly sexist as much as they are just reflections of other media. Rarely will you find an overweight woman with a misshapen face in a leading role in a movie. And while a lot of female characters in games are perfectly proportioned and scantily clad, the male characters are usually incredibly rugged and muscular. Whatever; feminazis ruined real feminism. Samus Aran would kick their asses any day of the week for being such bitches.

But the boobs in DOAX2 were just absurd. I was offended by their bounciness. Breasts do NOT jiggle like that. I swear. I will never play that game as long as I live, even if I lose another bet.
