I remember when it was created. I was so excited that there was a channel with shows I could watch all the time!
But it is true, they are the type of shows that you grow out of... well most people at least.
I stopped watching at some point near the end of elementary school. |
Well, obviously shows like Today's Special, Pinwheel, the Elephant Show, or Fred Penner's Place wouldn't do much for me anymore. But shows like Mysterious Cities of Gold, You Can't Do That on Television, Ren and Stimpy, Count Duckula, Bananaman, Danger Mouse, Doug, Inspector Gadget, Double Dare, etc are all shows I can still enjoy.
I actually don't think the shows suck. I just don't think there is enough variety. They either need to add more shows or open the vault and show more reruns so they can cut back on some of their current programs. Eventually, people are going to get tired of watching the same episodes of Drake and Josh and iCarly before they are turning the channel.
EDIT: Maybe I was a little harsh with iCarly. It only comes on in one back to back block on today's schedule whereas Drake & Josh and Dora come on 3 times today, Home Improvement and George Lopez come on 4 times (both George Lopez block are the same and only 3 hours apart), while the biggest tv hogs are Fresh Prince which is on 6 times and Spongebob which comes on 9 freakin times. There are also 7 shows that only come on once for only a half hour each.
I'd say they at least need to even out their programming a little. Also, the same 2 George Lopez episodes don't need to come on only 3 hours later. Either make the second block different or spread it out. It is the only Nick at Nite show that repeats. In fact, I would just cut the second block for both shows and knock Fresh Prince back to just 2 episodes. It would make room for 3 more shows with 2 back to back episodes each.
EDIT Part Deux: I was right about iCarly. On Tuesday, there is a 2 hour block then it comes on again later that day for only a half hour. Their tv schedule seems to have no rhyme or reason to it. Monday they are having a Spongebob marathon from 6 am to 6 pm. It seems like they just put their schedules together at random.
