Where I live, it has been quite a few hours since the rapture was meant to happen. Everything is still normal.

We all died yesterday. We just don't remember it. Turns out, Heaven is pretty much exactly the same as Earth. Or perhaps this is Hell.

Or more likely purgatory since we don't know we're dead and are all in meaningless existence.

I thought the rapture deal was just that the righteous people will be taken up and the sinners left behind. We're not supposed to be dead, we're just not noticing the Flandereses in our lives who are now missing. Probably because we hated them anyway.

As predicted, Mr. Camping has revised his prediction for October. Dang backpedaling rounding errors.
| Quote: |
Through chatting with a friend over what he acknowledged was a very difficult weekend, it dawned on him that instead of the biblical Rapture in which the faithful would be swept up to the heavens, May 21 had instead been a "spiritual" Judgment Day, which places the entire world under Christ's judgment, he said.
The globe will be completely destroyed in five months, he said, when the apocalypse comes. But because God's judgment and salvation were completed on Saturday, there's no point in continuing to warn people about it, so his network will now just play Christian music and programs until the final end on Oct. 21.
"We've always said May 21 was the day, but we didn't understand altogether the spiritual meaning," he said. "The fact is there is only one kind of people who will ascend into heaven ... if God has saved them they're going to be caught up." |
Cue the tired "religious vs. spiritual" semantic debate.
Also, according to this new prediction, there will be no Antichrist and no Tribulation since the world won't be around for either to come. If I'm not mistaken, Jesus doesn't judge anyone, God does. And Camping didn't even apologize to anyone who lost everything as a result of his first prediction:
| Quote: |
Family Radio would never tell anyone what they should do with their belongings, and those who had fewer would cope, Camping said.
"We're not in the business of financial advice," he said. "We're in the business of telling people there's someone who you can maybe talk to, maybe pray to, and that's God."
But he also said that he wouldn't give away all his possessions ahead of Oct 21.
"I still have to live in a house, I still have to drive a car," he said. "What would be the value of that? If it is Judgment Day why would I give it away?"
...
Josh Ocasion, who works the teleprompter during Camping's live broadcasts in the group's threadbare studio sandwiched between an auto shop and a palm reader's business, said he enjoyed the production work but he had never fully believed the May 21 prophecy would come true.
"I thought he would show some more human decency in admitting he made a mistake," he said. "We didn't really see that." |

It must be convenient to be able to just place the rapture at any old date and just claim it was "spiritual judgement" if it doesn't happen. I'm also really glad we don't have anyone on here who believes in this so we didn't have endless, pointless flame wars leading up to the day in which we tried to convince him/her it wasn't happening and then endless flaming afterwards when we ridiculed him/her mercilessly.

That's just sad and sick.
Fucking infuriates me that these people can control and put fear into the masses and cause things like this and not somehow be held accountable.
They don't understand they're playing with people's lives or just don't give a fuck.

Harold Camping should go down in history's list of greatest trolls. Let's see if he apologizes come October.

I think that Camping should be charged with fraud, to be honest, but he got his fifteen, so I'm sure he doesn't give a shit. The media companies should be charged as well. If he's part of the 'spiritually elect' that get to go to Heaven or whatever, I'd rather be in Hell.

I've been wondering, if someone bought into this and also paid for a service (like the $200 to care for pets post-Rapture), could that person then sue for the money back or are they SOL?

Probably the latter, since the contract was drawn up on the pretense that the service written on it is to begin when the Rapture does come around. Since it hasn't yet, the deposit is still legal, unless a clause that renders it null and void after May 21, 2011 was included in it.

Exactly how does committing murder and suicide get one's self out of judgement day again?
