I play MapleStory when I've got time to kill. It can be sort of soothing at times.
I didn't play Morrowind past the first city, but I've been playing Oblivion, and I gotta say the whole "law" system is really infuriating. I get not being able to kill NPCs without repercussion, but trespassing and stealing is irritating to have to deal with. I was taught to explore EVERYTHING in a game... when you build a huge church in a game and then put a basement in it, my first instinct is to poke around the basement. But then you put in a guy who lunges at me and screams "HOLY SHIT YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE IN HERE" and gives me his stupid 30-disposition-score-angry-eyes and it completely contradicts everything video games have ever taught me. What's the point in building an entire living world for a game if you're going to just... close off half of it? And by extension, why do you litter the world with crates full of random junk if it's "stealing" to take out an apple?
I've had an idea for a comic about the stealing, but I haven't gotten around to drawing it. Maybe I'll have it later.
Also, the disposition system in Oblivion pisses me off on its own. "Hello, I'd like to buy a house." "I DON'T TRUST YOU ENOUGH TO TALK ABOUT THAT." What if you just walked into a store to buy something, anything, and the shopkeeper just screamed, "I don't trust you enough to sell you that!"?

Treat it like it's real life then. And stop stealing and they will trust you.

Yeah the law system is broken, I love when you're crouched and unseed and the little icon says your unseen, and when you take something or kill someone guards still somehow know you did it. BTW crates sitting outside of houses don't seem to count, I've never gotten busted for stealing from those.

When you do something out of order in a game, say pick up and item, prior to when you are supposed and then it will not let you complete the event you needed to since you did things out of order. I.E. FFIII on SNES. If you get the chainsaw first, like I did, then try to get into the opera house to judge it will not let you, and you must restart the game all over again. Square, you sons of bitches

Parts in games where you get teamed up with computer controlled characters, and you fail your mission if they get killed due to their own stupidity. Packie's missions in GTA IV come to mind. The game is about Niko, not them other dudes. As long as he stays alive, the story should adapt accordingly. Either that or give the NPCs better AI so they don't get killed like idiots.

RPGs where you try to do them without a FAQ (Breath of Fire - 14 HOURS, Chrono Trigger - 6 HOURS) and you have to do something with a certain item you were supposed to dig up after a boss fight or something and you get to the place where you have to use it and you cant. Then after that, you cant get back to where you need to get it. FUCK.
Miserable loading times, irritating repetitive announcers on sports games.
Cant think of anything else. Maybe shitty shooters.

When the game JUST starts and I've barely got a base set up after 10 seconds..and some how, someway, I'm already under attack by an army which seems to be made of the entire population of China, complete with tanks, plains and boats.
ALSO, anytime when the A.I goes from retarded to brilliant in the 1/10th of a second...on the brink of certain victory, it leaps back from the verge and kicks my ass.

When games try to be edgy, but it just ends up looking low-rent and hurts the view of the industry. For example, the Postal games all sucked, but politicians point at them as the true face of the video game industry. If you're going to potentially hurt the industry, at least fucking TRY to contribute some good to it, don't just put sex and violence in a crappy game so it can sell better.
Cut the sexism crap. I was recently hanging out with my friend, and she knew I wanted to get a copy of Psychonauts (Rare in my area, because people only play sports games and shitty shooters, and Gamestops don't buy new games), and I flat-out refused to go there, because that particular Gamestop is full of posters and cardboard cutouts of half-naked, big-boobed game girls. I felt like a pervert for going in and buying a copy of a cartoony game with no nudity and only says "ass" like twice. I almost got my sister to play Guitar Hero with me (we rarely talk, and she hasn't touched a game since Street Fighter 2), but flat-out refused when I randomly got assigned Casey as my guitarist. She called them game sexist and refused to play. I'm not saying they have to make women in games fat and ugly, but don't make it uncomfortable to play in the presence of some people.

I'm not necessarily saying the AI is crappy. It's just frustrating having to restart a mission because some barely relevant side character fucked around and got his ass killed.
Btw, Dexter rocks.

I damn well hate the first part of your posts just for saying the Postal series is shit. Postal kicks ass in many ways, Postal 1 kicked ass because it was just fun and it took a concept from an awesome game called GTA 1 and 2. Postal 2 was awesome because it transitioned to an FPS, pretty similar to GTA but that was third person, and Postal 2 was just new because you had weapons you dont regularly see in games like Sledgehammers, Boomerang Machetes, and Scythes. Also in Postal 2 you could piss, like unzip your pants and piss on people or stuff, but the best part is when you beat the game you get this enhanced mode where you piss NAPALM THAT FUCKING AUTO STARTS ON FIRE. Thats something that I never thought I'd see and Im fucking glad I did see it, that game reshaped the way a Comedic FPS is and should be.

Anytime a guy tries and be respectful about something like the female bodies there is always at least one guy who thinks its funny to make a tired and weak joke about the guys sexuality. You forgot to say "wazzzzzzzzzzuuupppp!"

Exactly! And that very thing happens on pretty much every escort mission in Dead Rising. Especially the mission where you have to save five women from a fat cop - and then save two other people who are seven feet away. It's particularly annoying when only two of the people can wield weapons and all of them seem to just run into zombies and get munched on instead of actually following you.
And yes, Dexter rocks the house.
