Wrong. The first generation is flash memory. The second and third are HD.

Again, you're wrong. There's no point arguing with you; You think you're right - I am right. But, heck, don't take it from me. I just have 2.5 years experience with the product. Flash memory is probably one of the reasons why the iPod Nano is pricey... 8gb for $199 when you can get an 80gb video for $249... flash memory is far more expensive than a HD.

I'm thinking of maybe getting an iPhone. I need a new phone and I want something that's filled with unnecessary gadgets. What exactly does the iPhone do? Most importantly, can I import my own ringtones on to it?

I'm guessing that you're joking. And I don't know anything about the iPhone... only that there's one maybe 20 feet away from me.

Honestly, I am not joking. I seriously need a new phone and I seriously want something gadgety. I could research it myself, but I figured our resident Apple specialist could pitch it to me instead. Before the price drop, I really wasn't all that interested in an iPhone. $599 is far too much to pay for a phone but $399 isn't so bad. I am also considering the Nokia N75.

Here's my comparison of the iPhone & Nokia N75:

Battery Life (talk time):
iPhone = 8 hours
Nokia N75 = 4 hours
(music playback)
iPhone = 24hours
Nokia N75 = 9.5hours

Memory:
iPhone = 8gb memory
Nokia N75 = 2gb (max supported, but only includes 1gb)

Music Transfer:
iPhone = sync from computer OR new iTunes Wi-fi
Nokia N75 = sync from computer (nothing available to buy wirelessly)

Accessories included:
iPhone = same as the Nokia N75 + stereo headset

Pricing:
iPhone is $0.99 cheaper!!! Smile

Extra features:
iPhone = same as Nokia N75 + touch screen!!!

* All the information was found over the net, as I have no hands-on experience with either product*

Arrow Arrow Arrow Personal opinion: the iPhone looks nicer (appearance is everything... lol) But, in all honesty, the iPhone has more features, better battery life, and more memory. I don't see the pros for the Nokia N75.

OK, I'm thinking of the fucking iPod video. Sorry. I guess this shows how much I care about Apple's products.

Also, I'd go with this instead of the iPhone.

http://www.openmoko.com/products-neo-base-00-stdkit.html

It's extremely similar to the iPhone, but it's open-source and compatible with any wireless provider that has SIM cards.

Now, "sync from computer" means I can steals mp3s off my computer, which I could then ostensibly use as ringtones, yes?

No idea. All I know is that I can run most any cellphone app from the thing, as well as anything compatible with Linux.

Not a clue... I remember reading somewhere online... engaget.com or something... that you can create your own ringtones now. But, I really have no idea.

the sprint pocket pc lets you use your own mp3's as your ring tones.

also, the iPhone lets you download that one nintendo emulator app that I read about somewhere.

then your friend isn't working very hard. the easiest attachment sale is the cables to hook the TV up.

When I was buying my Plasma from Best Buy, I tried hard not to laugh when the sales guy said "If you get this TV you really should protect it by getting this Power Protecter. It has Gold inputs and labeled power plugs" Basically this thing was an expensive surge protector ($250 Bucks). I said yea maybe I'll come back but I don't have the money for it (being nice). He then said in the most serious manner. "Sir Please don't hook up this TV without this. Maybe you should come back when you have enough money for both." If your gullible or stupid don't go shopping by yourself.
