Artist's complmentary rant:
"In a nutshell, as soon as Spiderman starts wearing the Venom outfit he starts getting a bit more edgy and angsty than usual - and so, in order to reflect his changing nature he stops combing his hair and suddenly starts wearing it all droopy to a side, almost over his eye.
You know... like emo.
I don't have anything particular against emos (although they are a lot of fun to make jokes about) and I don't exactly think the people in charge of the film were intending to make him actually be emo - they were probably just looking for a hairstyle that was "hip" or "with the times" and that was it. But if the idea was to make him emo, I don't think it would've been a good choice. I don't know many, but the few emos I have met are anything but aggressive.
Anyway, I just wanted to make a joke/comment on Peter Parker's hair... I guess."

Ummm, wasn't Peter Parker already a whiney ass nancy-boy by the end of spider man 1?
I'm not exactly clear on the definition of "emo". It sort of changes based on what the person doing the insulting dislikes about the insulted.
But assuming a reasonable definition is "person who is depressed most of the time despite a certain level of entitlement, and into an artistic hobby that the person bemoans that nobody appreciates", well, thats peter parker.
Just look at the evidence.
1. He's almost always on the verge of crying.
2. Entitlement? He's spiderman. He's got really good superpowers and he's not hideously deformed. I wish he'd go into the sewers and have a nice talk with the morlocks, so he could develop a sense of appreciation.
3. I think in number two he submits some of his black and white photagraphy to jameson, who like anyone who has common sense, wisely decides not to publish the tripe. And peter just looks on like the man spit on a van gogh or something.
I'm gonna see the third movie , but I'm hoping the fourth is about Mysterio (as played by Bruce Campbell) teaches spider man that his life isn't so shitty and more importantly how to enjoy saving the lives of others, instead of doing it because your dead ass uncle put a guilt trip on you.
(honestly, it didn't bother me at first. But the more I think abou thte movie, the more his personality grates)

I thought it was hilarious. The point was to laugh at Peter when he was that way because he looked and acted so ridiculous.

Spoilers..
if i remember correctly (?), they didn't really show Venom die... They showed Eddie dive into the symbiote, then the camera focused on something else, then it went back and you see an explosion. Plenty of time to get away, i think. And yea, there's totally some symbiote in connner's lab. |
SPOILERS
Yeah, I watched Venoms death scene VERY carefully... you see Brocks skeleton in the inferno for like half a second. For me Skeleton=Death

To be fair, the only skeletal part of skeletor is his skull. The rest of him is blue and buff, like he stole his torso from a bodybuilding smurf.

Watching "Spider-Man 3" again tonight, several months after release, has not lessened the film any for me. It was just as thrilling, emotional, and amazing as it was when I saw it at midnight so long ago.
One thing that did lessen was the nitpicks that I heard back in the day, which I realized were just exploited during its release. Emo Spider-Man no longer feels emo to me, but that might be because of the lack of the emo presence in my life now. Venom is just as badass now as he was for me then and I'm still perplexed what the hub-bub was about. It's also very clear to me that Venom will return in either the next film or a future one. And the ending of Peter and MJ not getting back together, but remaining friends is perfectly handled and the only way the film should've ended.
And after watching a crap ton of other films since Spidey 3, I still applaud its departure from the constraining, imaginless three act structure. It's still my favorite film of the year and I highly doubt that "American Gangster", "Gone Baby Gone", "Michael Clayton", or whatever else they throw at me will top the experiences I have had with this film. Spidey 3 leaves me feeling excited, fulfilled, and even humble. Why other dramas have to sap the energy out of themselves, I'll never know.

Yeah... I still prefer the movie. And more movies in general need to be like "Heat".

Finally saw this movie this weekend. Speaking as someone who wasn't a big fan of the previous movies (I thought they were too comical, as opposed to more "real" like the new Batman and the X-Men movies), I thought this was the best of the three.
It still had it's annoyingly comical moments, unfortunately, but the darkness of the movie appealed to me. Also, the plot contrivance of having MJ act bitchy was silly, but I never liked Dunst in the role, so I sort of liked that.
Also, as already mentioned many times over, too much stuff was crammed in. All three villians deserved an entire movie devoted to them, and could have use the time to develop more. Obviously, Venom got the worst of it, as we barely saw him, but what we saw was great - He is the Darth Maul of 2007.
I would welcome a 4th movie without Dunst & Maguire.

Fuirst of that last scene was taken directly from the Animated series from the lat e
90's.
They already killed off the film with the death of Osborn and his waves.
This Film totaly blows where he rips off Venom and in ho episodeSand Man is that big. |
Rereading Regal's posts, I discovered the last uncensored post he made here was about Spider-Man 3. I think he described the film perfectly.
