surely the X box didn't get any other games worth playing, and surely the 360's X-Box live was a big flop, with the Live Arcade, and the achievement points, and the gamer score cards, and the downloading high def movies and stuff. Nobody wants to play gears of war, or morrowind, or dead rising, or dead or alive.
surely the regualr X-Box didn't get all of the good 2d fighitng games in better shape than the PS2 counterparts, and I'll be damned if it wasn't the only system that could handle doom 3 when it came out, among other games. I suppose custon soundtracks weren't too big of a deal either. playstation gamers LOVE hearing emo and avril lavigne while they crash cars in burnout, and I KNOW thos Wii sports player's don't mind turning down their TV volume and putting on a stereo while they launch their remotes through their television sets.
I'd also like to see Mugen running on a playstation of a gamecube. |
I'm not saying the xbox sucks. But you can't argue the statistics on the xbox. Before Halo hit an all time "High" I had 2 games I thoughrly enjoyed...Fuzion Frenzy and Star Wars KOTR. I was in the xbox's target market, but there was really nothing out on X-Box that I couldn't play on PS2. I'll cop out and blame it on the mammoth controller, but even with the S controller, it still felt like a task to play the same games.
I own an XBox 360 and I haven;t turned it on since i moved. I played through Gears of War 3 times and the game is amazing, it turned a lot of heads. I'm sure there are other games out that some consider to be "great", But nothing amazing.
I do enjoy X-box live arcade. However the points system is flawed, its basically "can you play 10 online matches and win all of them in a row", or "Play 10,000 ranked matches" basically its just a way to get more people online, now if the points actually did something (besides for bragging rights)...got you extra content or free stuff...sure i'll bite. However everything I can do via x-box's downloads I can do on my laptop.
You can preach all you want about X-Box's greatness, but when you own a store and not work for one (which has always been pro-microsoft since my days there in 9 , maybe you;ll see the light. I challenge you to name 5 AMAZING XBox titles, not 360, that weren't out on other systems. Pretty sure I can guess what your already going to name off. This is what I predict...Halo...obviously, Fable, PGR, Star Wars:KOTR, and Jade Empire. lol now I know your not gonna pick those 5 are you?
And just to get back to the original topic. The Battletoads & Billy/Jimmy Lee need to make a much needed come back.

I hate fable, I hate KOTOR, I hate jade empire, and I don't even play many racing games.
regardless of wether you can play a game on PS2 and X box, the X box version is usually better in some way. the capcom 2d fighting games all got online play, DOA ultimate got lots of extra content and online play that were lacking from DOA hardcore, virtua fighter 4 (whne it was supposed to still come out for x box) was going to have ryo hazuki and lan di as palyable cahracters, splinter cell chaos theory has extra modes for online play, burnout revenge is faster and has more effects and shrapenel during crashes, plus custom soundtracks so you don't have to listen to the HOrRIbLE music in game.
as far as thinking of five X box specific titles, I'll have to think on it before I blurt any old games out. howzabout telling me of five PS2 specific titles worth owning though? I know plenty of people that don't like halo who swear by their X box.
and I'm hardly preaching greatness. I've been playing games since atari, and rarely take sides. Even if I was, I'm not some zombie that's gonna say "my job tells me that x box is better, so it is."
for the record, there's a bet going on with some of the guys as to wether you actually own a store or are just makign this whole thing up.
I do agree that the points should do more, and that you can download movies on your computer, as that's what I do (just like downloading roms instead of using hte virtual console) but the fact is statistics, like yo uwere saying. people actually pay to download those movies, and people actually DO sit through peter jackson's king kong (abysmal game) to get the 1000 gamer points for beating it. it's a brilliant scheme, making gaming into a giant penis sizing contest, and it sells. I've actually alughed at my roomate for buying games jsut to unlock their achievements, because he's in a pissing contest with a buddy of ours.
after palying final fight streetwise, I fear to find out what would happen with a new double dragon game.

The Xbox is not to blame for the ills of the gaming world. Making the Xbox into the scapegoat allows us to ignore the real reason.
Five PS2 games. Hmmm.
1. Shadow hearts series
2. Dragon warrior 8
3. Beyond good and evil
4. The fatal frame series
5. God of war
Theres some good one there. Not sure if they are exclusive.
KOTOR is inferior to just about anything black isle put out beforehand.
This "its 3D or its shit" atmosphere right now killed final fight dead. The potential saviors would be either Xbox live arcade or that service that the Wii puts out. PS3 is the road to 2D damnation.
A double dragon game would be very cool.

Got this game the same Christmas I got Super C. No saves, no passwords.
Frustrated the hell out of me, specifically how monsters would spawn on the edge of the screen repeatedly, screwing up my pit-jumping timing. Wasn't until two years ago I finally finished the damn thing. I only know the name is from Greek mythology, because the character says so in the game.
So I played Super C a lot more than this one.

I agree with Douche about Battletoads & Double Dragon coming back. Another Dynamite Headdy game would also be cool. I wish Treasure would make another decent Gunstar Heroes game as well. The one for the Game Boy Advance wasn't that good in my eyes.
Oh, and RobotGumshoe, thanks for mentioning Shadow Hearts. I've enjoyed 3 of the 4 games in that series (including Koudelka). The newest one kind of blew, though. It's nice to see that someone else enjoys the series.

Well so as not to get kicked by McCracken in the face, I'll drop it for now *shakes fist at Jew* no harm or animosity meant by it .
Well it's true that pretty much every game I loved back in the day has usually blown ass when it goes 3-d, (Castlevania, Final Fight, Metroid...)I still liked Metroid but its just not the same. There is probably no way around making both Double Dragon & Battletoads suck something fierce, but like a sidescrolling "Bouncer" could work. Of course it would still need a lot of uniqueness since beat'em ups aren't really being made anymore.

oh I meant no animosity anyways. it's kind of dumb to get mad at someone over videogames.
there is a running bet that you are making the whole videogame store thign up though...
to be honest, there are a few games on the PS2 that aren't on the X box that I love, and that's the only reason I'm keeping my PS2 around, and those would be:
clock tower 3
devil may cry series
shinobi and nightshade
dirge of cereberus
soul calibur III
fantavision
one of those castlevania games, who's name escapes me
virtua fighter 4
possibly more

Well whatever the bet is I might have to get in on it. And yea it is dumb, but i'm sure you know how easy it is to start up. Can't believe you left out Metal Gear...thats just blasphemy...
If you think about it it's really not that hard to have your own store. All you really need is a sign and the goods. It's not like the place is made out of gold and has gigantic spot lights on the roof. One day...but not yet.
I have a second venture I am looking into starting in place of this one, because the "co-owner" (does that make a difference) isn't big into video games. And he made the name and the design. Thats what 60-40 will get you.
So I guess I don't "OWN", but I do co-own. I guess I wrongly say I own it...sue me, but I do all the work...he just sits in his lazy-boy watching CNN. So thats how it is in my eyes.

I hated metal gear solid 2 and 3. plus, 2 isn't PS2 exclusive.
urban reign is a pretty fun beat em up, just don't get confused and buy beat down:fists of vengance insead.
the arcade mode of final fight streetwise was okay... I guess..... that was supposed to be the whole game, you know.

Well it was exclusive at one point, lol, but Metal Gear 4 and Devil May Cry 4 are the only reasons I will purchase a PS3, and FF XIII of course. I also thought the sports games were suppose to look better. Maybe its the tv at my buddies house but Madden looked and played like a Goblin from the blockbuster movie Troll 2.
They should also bring back Ryu...not the Street fighter but the blue haired dragon boy. I haven't seen a new Breath of Fire in a LONG time.

Maybe its because I played super metroid, but the newer metroids don't do anything for me. And I never play 3-d castlevanias. 2-D needs to come back.
Oh, and where the fuck is your avatar Douche?

devil may cry is coming out for the 360, metal gear might as well.
I only want a PS3 for the next installment of soul calibur, which is supposed to be exclusive, and that remake of final fantasy VII, which might not even be real.

I ditched Phil Moore. I'm making a new one. I never had a problem with the new metroids, and the castlevanias aren't nearly as bad as I want to think they are. I just wish someone would make a super kick ass 2D game. Kinda like what they did for Gradius and R-Type.
Like Skull & Crossbones II or Power Punch III. I'm sure those couldn't possibly suck if made on a more powerful system.
How about an actual Kirby Game, like Kirby's Adventure. I also want more Barry from RE:1

Rest easy knowing that FF XIII will be availible for PC and 360 in addition to PS3. Basically this one guy in a French gaming magazine was speaking on behalf of Sony of Europe and saying that the price of making a game makes it harder to justify exclusivity.

Square will eventually show the Wii some love and give us a proper FF game... I hope so at least. Actually, I don't really care.

They're not coming out with anything for the Wii now, because they already had the other games in development for the other system(s) or something. Maybe not. Either way, I liked XII, so I'm looking forward to an FF game on the Wii.
