Smash 64 is great, but Melee is vastly superior. I like Captain Falcon. He's a great speed based character.

I've come to appreciate Captain Falcon, but when he was one of a scant dozen characters, he did not impress me. I was all, WHAT'S WITH THIS GUY WHO ISN'T A CHARACTER I CARE ABOUT?

I guess if you needed an RPG fix and you didn't care that you were essentially drinking nail polish remover, then sure. I preferred Aidyn Chronicles: The First Mage, and that's really saying something.

Paper Mario was a good RPG. OgreBattle 64 almost counted, and it was awesome. Hybrid Heaven was interesting, but kind of a chore. If we really stretch the definition of RPG something fierce, I had all kinds of fun playing ShadowGate 64.

The roster on Smash 64 definitely was smaller (even with all characters unlocked) than I had remembered when I first went back to it. I think I will just always like it because I wasn't a huge fan of more traditional fighting games (always got boned in Street Fighter II), then seeing a game where a number of my favorite video game characters could fight each other was pretty cool.

Also agree on Captain Falcon. I like him a bit more now, but as a kid I was wondering "who the hell is that guy?". I'm not amazing at the game and playing against someone who has practiced for years using only Captain Falcon is one of the least enjoyable Smash 64 experience.

I loved this back in the day. I never played it solo, only ever played it with this one friend as he either owned it or we both would take turns renting it when we hung out. I never found anyone else that liked it that much, but can't count the late night game sessions this provided. I have not played it since I was in my younger teens, I wonder if it still holds up?

I enjoyed that game a lot too, but didn't get that far in it because none of my friends liked it. It was wrestling, goldeneye & mariokart mainly for us. Annoying for me.

Sacrilege! Loved that game. I don't like Luigi getting the hate, but I had a wtf? reaction to Captain Falcon's inclusion when the game came out too. Had some fun returning to it a few months ago. I never played Melee though, as I never bought a Gamecube.

I played the tits off of Goldeneye but never had an expansion pack back in the day so I never got to try Perfect Dark. With my current N64 having come with an expansion pack, I finally picked it up. For a game that popular I always thought it would be expensive, figured I couldn't go wrong for 15 bucks even if it ends up feeling super dated.

Considering the rise in prices of some games, especially for those CIB or factory sealed, I was pretty surprised you can get it online for 25-30+ shipping. Even with a lot of shipping, I'm pretty sure that still falls decently under what it would have retailed for back in the day.

I'll join the "who's this guy?" club concerning Captain Falcon. He's pretty good in Smash 64, but his Melee counterpart is ridiculous with the running jump thunder kneecap. Never played much Brawl, but if I remember correctly he was ultra-nerfed.

Also, Falcon humors me to no end.

It was on my list. I love the game, though it annoys me that it requires a memory card which I don't own these days. If I play it I have to play it in one go or leave the console on until I have time to finish it. I could buy a memory card but that is the only game that I have that requires one so it seems like a waste of money.

Yeah, 4 bucks on Amazon for a memory card is a waste of money when you could just leave your N64 on and risk it breaking, leaving you with a bunch of games you can't play. Confused

I was just kidding. That game was terrible.
