The third movie is usually the worst.

Well multiple villians work well when they're working together but when they have seperate story lines, it can make the movie disjointed.

I suppose that's true. Scarecrow did work for Ra's, but I see your point.

Lethal Weapon 4 would have been worse than 3 if it weren't for Jet Li being in it. If it weren't for him, that movie would have been completely unwatchable.

I actually liked Die Hard 2. I wouldn't necessarily say 3 was better. It was still good though.

I might be the only person here that preferred Temple of Doom to Last Crusade though. I thought the third movie got a little ridiculous with Sean Connery babying Indy and the whole Nazi/Christian thing had already been done in the first film.

You're not the only one, although it honestly depends on my mood. I just always felt the villains felt weaker as the series went one. Raiders got it perfect, honestly, Temple of Doom was good in how they were portrayed. However both Last Crusade almost made them inept and too gullible, and Crystal Skulls made them absolutely ridiculous. Also Crusade put a lot of comedy in the movie where it wasn't needed. It was probably the overall better story, but I still enjoy the dark elements of Temple of Doom a lot more. Crystal Skulls on the other hand is downright garbage. In fact, I bet you can make the argument that any series that continues AFTER 3 movies starts to go downhill;

Star Wars
Indiana Jones
Superman
Lethal Weapon
Rocky
Batman

Never seen Crystal Skull, but from what I've heard about it I'll probably avoid it like prostate cancer. However Star Trek IV I thought was awesome, maybe a little better than III.

Dodd,

I really liked Lethal Weapon 4. I thought 3 was the weakest one.

Yeah, Lethal Weapon 4 had a much better story. The internal affairs/arms dealing plot in 3 was kinda weak.

Not always.

Star Trek IV, VI, & First Contact
Rambo IV
The latest Predator movie "Predators" (Which I think is the 2nd best next to the original)
James Bond series (Lot's of good one after the 1st three. Just not lately.)

Technically, Predators is the third movie in the series. Most people don't count the AVP shitfests.

Building on this, AVP 1 is fine by me. Acting was fucking terrible, but it made up for it with a half decent story line and the shock of seeing two action/horror/suspense giants go against each other. I was happy.

And then that demon child AVPR came out, and I felt like tearing my own eyes out. They CAN'T make a sequel to that disaster worse than it already is. It's just not possible. So I'm hoping for a nice sequel.

Alien vs Predator, what's next, Lex Luthor vs the Joker?

The Alien vs. Predator idea dates back to at least 1989, when Dark Horse published the first Alien vs. Predator comic. The 1990 film Predator 2 showed an Alien "trophy" on the Predator ship, which intended to set up the Alien vs. Predator film, but it would be another 14 years before such a film was released.

So while the film ended up as a blatant cash-grab (like Freddy Vs. Jason) meant to revitalize interest in two dying franchises, it was originally conceived when the franchises were still at relatively high commercial peaks.

I want to make Chucky Vs. Leprchaun. I've even got a movie poster planned out: "You must be this tall... TO DIE!"

Home Alone 3
Bourne Ultimatum
Ocean's Thirteen
Jurassic Park III

Each are my least favorite in their respective series.

I think the Bourne movies have gotten better with each one. 3>2>1.

I feel the same way about the Lord of the Rings. So I obviously disagree with people in this thread who say the third one sucked. You think the ending goes on too long? SHUT THE FUCKING MOVIE OFF THEN.

I don't necessarily think they were too long, just really really boring. I watched all 3 in the theater and I just couldn't stay awake for the 3rd. I finally saw it when I rented it like two years later.

The parts of the movie that weren't boring were really well put together and exciting though.

Its prequel and it plays in Ace's childhood.
Some fat kid plays him, i never saw it in any other movie.
Basiclly it became a familiy movie wich has mostly lame and unfunny jokes in it.
Its really harmless and uninteresting compared to ace ventura 1 and 2.
The targe audience must have been children between age 4-10, so i think most children would enjoy it.
But for everyone who is 10+ years or saw any of the previous movies its not much of an intereset, more a waste of time i would say.

Just like with Dumb and Dumberer and Son of Mask, I don't count Jim Carrey movie sequels without Jim Carrey as real proper sequels.

Jim Carrey needs to get back to basics. I think he dropped the ball by not giving us a sequel to The Mask and Dumb and Dumber.
