I loved the MvC2 soundtrack, I am so tired of people constantly dogging it because it isn't metal or hip-hop.

I guess I am the only one who likes jazz...

Didn't MvC2 only have two songs? One for the selection screen and one for the actual game?

No, you're not. I also loved MvC2 soundtrack, more so than the original.

There was a song for the menus, character select, each stage, results screen, etc.

I listen to jazz when I'm hanging out with friends and drinking coffee and having a conversation.

I can listen to the soundtrack as a standalone album, but the music wasn't very fitting for a hectic fighting game. the only track that really got me amped to fight was the one from amingo's desert.

Furthermore it annoyed me that where the first MVC had such nostalgia pumped into it, the sequel loses that. In the first, each character had their respective theme song, and the stages were full of cool little easter eggs as well. Obviously I understand that having individual themes for 56 characters is a bit wild, but they could have had some themed stages that had fitting music at least, like TvC did.

now that I think about it, though KOF is a much slower paced game and maybe that's why the music fits so well, the fatal fury team often had jazzy themes...

Akuma is such a badass that planet ending meteors are the only real challenging thing left for him to fight.

Well then I guess other than "Gonna Take You For A Ride", every song sounded exactly the same to me: like a bad rip-off of "Great Gig In The Sky".

pretty much all sounds generic and bland, at least for fight music. I think the fact that I've been listening to it for the past decade has forced it to grow on me though. Like I said, I like it, just not for this kinda thing.

This song rocks though:

I'd love to make a cps-2 sounding version and use it for amingo's theme in my mugen.

Capcom vs. SNK had some jazzy music that worked for the fights. Once again, however, I think it works mostly because the fights are more technical and slower paced.

fuck man. now I'm listenign to all these cds again.

You know what I think would have been a great game? Street Fighter II vs. Street Fighter III. Probably would have worked before SF IV came around though.

Shake it, Quake it, Space Kaboom.

No fighting game will ever have music as awesome as Guilty Gear's.

Killer Instinct had a damn good soundtrack too. I think I still have the CD that came with my SNES copy.

eh. I thought kiler instinct had a great one, mostly beause I always get the main theme and the character select screen stuck in my head, but the rest of the music either sounded generic or like a club hit.

All of those tunes are more pop/R&B/hip-hop oriented and not so much jazz oriented at all. Listen for the generic beat and rhythm.

This. I think BlazBlue is a very close second. Have you heard Hazama's theme for Continuum Shift,

Gluttony Fang

Or how about Tsubaki's theme,

Condemnation Wings

Of course we can't forget...

BANG BANG BANG BANG!

(I would embed, but my PS3 won't let me)

I'm confused, in the capcom vs. games can't you just have two people both play as capcom characters? That would be capcom vs. capcom. Or does it have to be the actual premise of the game?

I would like to see a KOF styled game with capcom characters instead of SNK guys.

you know, with all of the universes coexisting, and there being an overarching story and stuff.

A game featuring nothing but Capcom guys from different Capcom universes.

Spinal's theme from KI rocks. Well, not in the literal sense, but when I was little I *knew* that was a xylophone made from little bones.
