Because the US has to always come to the rescue when any country has troubles, especially third world countries. According to the world, it's our responsibility because we have a stable economy and electicity.

Yeah I mean Haiti wasn't exactly a vacation spot this time last year either. The place is crime ridden with a huge population of homeless and orphans. It's almost like we come to the rescue when it's either too late or gonna make us look good.

and thats the hipocrisy that pisses me off. prior to the earthquake, no one gave a flying fuck. now everyone suddenly wants to save a haitian. the illegal haitans are getting amnesty. its BS really. im not saying we shouldnt help, but we shouldnt do it only to get positive press

so, if we don't have a stable economy anymore, why is it still our responsibility? it's like being a successful television salesman who brings home decent bank, who happens to have an alcoholic friend who can't keep a job. Is it always going to be his responsibility to feed and clothe that motherfucker? even if it drives him into bankruptcy?
I'm all for pitching in to help the fellow man, but im not for all these motherfuckers acting like we HAVE to. other countries are pitching in, which is great, a team effort, but it should never EVER fall to "the US has to fix this" and nobody in the US should ever get the mentality of "we are the US, we have to fix this."

So what? That's their fault. Why is it our duty to prop them up? The countries we help never appreciate it, and in fact, even become our enemies so I don't know we keep bothering. And like I said before, I wouldn't mind if it was just the government throwing some ducets over there to posture in the UN, but I think it's appalling that I had to see "Haiti relief" shit everywhere I looked for a month, as if it's the American people's responsibility to save them. Some American people can barely afford to feed their kids, and yet they're chastised if they don't donate to Haiti.

Unfortunately that's exactly what happens every time there is a disaster somewhere. The whole world looks at the US and says, "Well?"
And then all the bleeding hearts in the country step up and say, "We have to fix this! It's our duty!" Next thing you know, there are telethons, TV advertisements, banners on every website, and me being pestered to donate while I'm trying to enjoy the Super Bowl. It's ridiculous.

So people should suffer because their own government fucked them over? That’s not fair at all, nobody asked, nor wants to live in poverty. As stated earlier it’s irresponsible to just ignore a fucked up situation like that. America does over due the humanitarian aid at times, but guarantees other countries influence the exact thing to their citizens as well.
Also user is right; nobody gave two fucks about Haiti before the quake. Nor any other poor country in this world. But the minute we hear of shit like war, poverty, famine etc. Everybody want’s to save them, adopt their kids, give them water etc. but before it: they didn’t care. Never gave it thought that their were poorer people outside their own country. Those proponents (not indicating those on the site) that we should give to those poor within our own country, nine times out of ten they’re full of shit just like those who are so quick to sign a check for $500 and then spend about $10,000 worth of bullshit. In short, they’re people who are full of shit on both sides of the fence.
