I don't think BNG knows what "facetiously" means.
If St. John facetiously told a crowd not to be disappointed about the current status of Duke Nukem Forever, that means they should be disappointed about the current status of Duke Nukem forever.

Agreed. "Facetious" is like a stronger form of sarcasm. If you watch the video on BNG, it's obvious Jon's tongue is very firmly planted in his cheek as he's talking.

If this is true, my hopes are up. Gearbox seems to work with others' licenses pretty well, what with Opposing Force kicking large amounts of ass, and their upcoming Alien games looking pretty solid.

I don't know... unlike 3D Realms, Gearbox has a decent track record.

Gearbox is the shit, Borderlands is one of the best games I have played through in recent memory.
If this is true, than this is awesome.

Yeah... the one you played isn't the real deal. Duke Nukem 3D is what you want and what everyone has been waiting for a sequel to.

I am actually playing through Duke 3D at the moment. It's a bitch to get running on windows 7.
I would be happy to finally see a sequel!

What's said is that the game will most likely be pirated to hell when it comes out. Honestly, I was always curious with it as time has gone by, because through the Quake 2/Halo years, it seemed like a chance that we could go back to fun, kill-em-up FPS's, After hearing how much of a development hell it was, and now that it's going to be dumped on Gearbox (granted, they're probably my favorite dev team), I just don't have hope for it. I've got my eyes on Bulletstorm.

Nothing new there... that is just based on the Kotaku information. It is still a rumor at this point.

Heh, probably being slightly redundant here, but I think Gearbox is the perfect company to handle the Duke Nukem franchise. It's overall style and brand of humor is right up their alley.

I think Gearbox is a terrible company to handle the Duke Nukem franchise. Squere Enix should handle it and make Duke exactly like Tidus from FFX.

Regen health, jelly screen, cover system = meh.

I've read this:
| Quote: |
No longer will Duke scavenge medkits and armor scraps. No longer will being extra cautious in a tight spot help.
Instead, his very existence is powered by his own massive Ego.
A shotgun blast to Duke's face is nothing compared to the disgrace he just suffered from the scumbag who shot him.
Only a just and fatal retribution could bring Duke's spirits back up.
By pulverizing enemies, gallivanting with the local ladies, having happy thoughts or taking a leak, Duke can repair his broken Ego.
Even more than that, by displaying his skills without suffering a scratch in a lasting battle, Duke can boost his Ego to 200%, have an Ego trip and ALL BETS ARE OFF.
When ALL BETS ARE OFF, Duke enters a brief fifteen seconds of nigh-invulnerability, enhanced physical traits and infinite ammo.
A whirlwind of destruction and boot prints, Duke has a chance to lay waste to anything around him in any way he pleases.
Regular cannon fodder don't stand a chance against this self-absorbed Duke Nukem, but only Duke at his peak performance could stand against the baddest of the bad |
Dunno how much truth there is in it though.
Also if Duke can only carry two weapons i will be pissed. I watched the 2kgames stream and it sort of looked like a modern warfare clone.
I don't know if i should be disappointed or not but i have seen so little.

3D Realms was at least 75% done with their version. Why not just finish/polish that? That's what people want to see.
Anyone can make a game and CALL IT Duke Nukem Forever. I want to see the game that bankrupted George Broussard.

Not too worried about regen, Gearbox has always been pretty cool with their health systems. Brothers in Arms 3 had a neat take on the auto-regen health system by basing it around the gameplay. In it, you technically were killed by 1 bullet, but the screen would get red to a rising degree until that one bullet finally hit you. How fast you died depended on variables such as how much cover you had, how suppressed your enemies were, and what kind of weapons the enemy had and how far away they were. Like I've said, Gearbox has always impressed me by taking what was already established and merging it nicely with their own game and world. I still think Opposing Force's single player was more fun that Half Life's (and Half Life 1 was awesome).
