When did Mario have a bastard son named Stanley? Or was that a joke and I'm retarded?

It's a real thing
Stanley is the guy you play as in Donkey Kong 3 with the bug sprayer. The early story of the game was that you are the son of Mario, whom I presume knocked up Pauline, which is why Mario moved to the Mushroom Kingdom and doesn't pay child support.
I'm seriously looking for information on it right now, but I'm not finding anything. I swear I'm not making this up. I found one article that says Stanley is a "cousin", but I know I'm right.

I can't find anything, but I know I had information on it from way back in the day, it was printed on the damn cabinet!!!! Oh well, Nintendo basically fucking lied about Donkey Kong by saying the current DK is Donkey Kong Junior, yet Mario hasn't aged at all and Junior was in Mario Tennis.

Look for the MAME cabinet art pack. Maybe you can find proof there.

I'm not finding anything! I checked out a blog where I guy reconstructed a Donkey Kong 3 cabinet, but there wasn't any information on the panels. I don't know, I swear I saw it somewhere.

I have high hopes for NSMB Wii, the DS one was good, but I felt like something was missing?
The Koopa Kids are cool, I don't mind Bowser Jr. though. |
...I felt the same way about the bolded. Now that I think about it (Again), maybe it was the lack of any items that allowed you to fly--Hell, even the Bunny Ears from Super Mario Land 2 would've sufficed.
And the Koopa Kids are awesome. Bowser Jr. is too damn boring and generic, like Daisy, Toadette, and any Toad that's not Toad (Wow, that last one almost sounds like a Logic Problem)...

Daisy is ok, at least they developed her to be sort of a tomboy compared to Peach. I really don't understand why we needed Rosalina though.

The powerups in NSMB were a total clusterfuck. Mega Mushroom? It's the same damn thing as the Starman. Turtle Suit? Pass. Mini Mario? Actually kinda cool. Fire Flower? Classic.
Another problem with NSMB is that you couldn't play through all 8 worlds sequentially in a single run through, making the already short game seem even shorter. Whoever thought that was a good idea ought to be shot.

Yeah, what is with Nintendo and giving Mario such shitty power ups nowadays? His power ups in Galaxy weren't that good, I mean the Bee Suit was alright, the Ice Flower was pretty much what you'd expect, but then you have that Spring that you couldn't control very well and then the Flying suit which was also difficult to manuever.
I JUST WANNA BE A FROG GODDAMMIT!!!!!!

The cape was cheap. I mean it was cool and everything, but it got old seeing all my friends beat everything by flying through the entire level.

The Galaxy ones were a step in the right direction, at least.

I agree. I'll take the good with the bad...the only problems I had were control with the Flying Suit and the Spring, especially when you couldn't even stop with the Spring. Everything else was alright, I suppose.
Still...
I want to believe...

The frog suit sucks. Useless on land and out of control when you swim fast underwater.

You had to know how to use it. I absolutely raped the water levels with it.

There were a couple places you swim up waterfalls with it.

I don't think anything they do could rival the power ups in SMB3, and that's the problem. They set the bar and now they can't reach it.

I never understood the Tanooki suit
I mean it was cool to turn into a statue, but even that seemed more of a pain to pull off than to jump over or kill the enemy. Plus you were only a statue for a split second, really not worth it IMO.

Didn't seem like it
I prefer Kirby, where you could use the statue ability to break blocks and sink to the bottom of water
