This is my own personal opinion, which was somewhat influenced by some article I read. Some Goldstein guy produces the show and a couple other Jewish people are prominent members of the production of the show. It's seems more like they are taking personal jabs at each other, taking turns if you will. I still really enjoy family guy, but sometimes the "Black jokes" leave me scratching my head. To be honest I don't think I have seen a single African American in the studio while watching the special features and what not.

I always wondered if the Jewish jokes were a result of the "When You Wish Upon A Weinstein" controversy, where FOX flatout refused to air the episode.
Once FOX was embarassed into renewing the show, McFarlane and crew decided to see how many more buttons they could push.

i really think they just take all the stereotypes out there, write each one on a piece of paper, and then draw 5 out of a jar, and write them into the show somehow.
or they use manatees.

The appeal of "When you Wish Upon a Weinstein" was that Peter was blissfully naive, and it took a direct negative reaction to his ignorance to educate him on the way things really work. The problem with so much racial humor these days is that instead of mocking ignorance and separation, it tries to mock sensitivity. The problem with the latter is that it just lacks any class, as limits itself to the old stereotype jokes that have been played out a million times. By mocking people for trying to not to be shitheads, you look like a shithead, regardless of intent.

The episode where Brian dated the older woman started off okay, but eventually became mean and stupid.

Heh, I remember saving that one pic. BTW, if you guys want American Dad to stay funny, then make MacFarlane stay focused on Family Guy, let him blow some of the ADHD steam off in there.
I wonder how bad AD would turn out if they put him full force behind it...

idk, i think they have a different design philosophy behind AD, since they dont rely on cutaway gags. they do have some random stuff pop up every now and then, but it flows w/in the plot of the story, kind of like how the simpsons used to do so back in the day.

American Dad has some funny dialogue. I will never watch Family Guy again after the third time they used an entire Conway Twitty song instead of a joke. The Cleveland Show is just awful.

Yeah, the more I watch FG, the more I agree with you guys. It really has gone downhill it seems, and someone said it best earlier that it's all about stupid shock jokes now instead of imaginations running wild and non-sequitors that made it so great in the past. Maybe shock jokes are easier considering Seth is working on two other very similar TV shows, and is having a hard time thinking up good content for all of them.

Ok, this is getting a bit scary.
I used to think that Family Guy was very funny, but now I'm not sure. It is the same voices, characters, and weekly plot. Still, I find myself unable to see humor in it. Is the show just completely unfunny now or am I become like Dexter Morgan and losing touch with human emotions?
