A successful add-on, Syd? There were none, as far as I remember. They did have successful peripherals back in the day, what with the N64 Rumble Pak, the NES Four Score or hell, even the Power Glove.
NATAL shouldn't be classified as an add-on, because it doesn't add that much to the console like other add-ons (32x, for example) did - all it is is a camera. It doesn't add Blu-ray nor does it offer any extra processing power or memory.
I seriously doubt any developers would make any games for it, anyway. The Wii is getting shunned because developers don't know how to use the Wiimote. The same thing happened with the EyeToy, the Jaguar (which had a really, really fucked up architecture) or hell - even the Dreamcast.
Microsoft should wait until developers start figuring out how to use controls like that effectively. Right now? It might be another $99 gimmick that you buy just to play that one game. A shame, really.
