Badass, agreed. I still prefer the boss fight music, but at this point its all about personal taste and hair-splitting. FF VII has such an amazing fucking soundtrack.

If I ever learn to play guitar, "Still More Fighting" from FF VII is the first song I'm going to learn how to play. Smile

Oh, and by the way, you are all wrong Razz . The best music in video games consists of:
Needle Man, Gemini Man, Spark Man, and Snake Man's themes from Mega Man III
Dive Man and Drill Man's themes from Mega Man IV (especially Drill Man's theme. Gotta love that percussion.)
Gravity Man and Star Man's themes from Mega Man V
The entire Streets of Rage 3 soundtrack
"Vampire Killer", "Heart of Fire", and "Wicked Child" from Castlevania
"Silence of the Daylight" (i.e. the town theme) and "Bloody Tears" (the daylight theme) from Castlevania II
The entire Castlevania III soundtrack (especially "Beginning", "Mad Forest", and "Riddle")
"The Sinking Old Sanctuary" from Castlevania: Bloodlines (i.e. the second level's music)
"The Trick Manor" from Castlevania: Circle of the Moon (Basement music)
"Theme of Juste" and "Chapel of Dissonance" from Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance
Most of the music from Jewel Master
The entire Journey to Silius soundtrack
Most of the music from Deja Vu
"Kraid's Hideout" from Metroid
"Silent Circus", "Into the Depths of Self Discovery", "Nightmarish Waltz", "Room of Angel", and "Wounded Warsong" from the Silent Hill 4 soundtrack
"Breeze - In Monochrome Night" and "A Stray Child" from the Silent Hill 3 soundtrack
"Fermata in Mistic Air" from the Silent Hill 2 soundtrack
"Junk Garage", "emptiness and...", and "Gimme Chance" from the World Ends With You soundtrack
"Matrix", "The Omission of the World", "Plosive Attack", and "U.B." from the Parasite Eve soundtrack

*exhales*

EDIT: I almost forgot...that cool-sounding drum music that plays in MGS3 when you're running away from those dogs in the sewer

Advent Rising

Easy to appreciate when done by a full orchestra... and when the game's music is basically EXACTLY this.

5. Metal Gear Solid - Alert.
4. The World Ends With You - Economical Shoppers. The catchiest tune to the best DS game EVAR.

3. Final Fantasy II (the real one) - Battle Theme.

2. Cannon Fodder - War Never Been So Much Fun. I'll admit, I make love to this game on a regular basis. Now, you yanks probably ignore the Amiga, and shame on you for that, because you're missing out on a pretty damn good game here. Before that game, we usually associated music in video games with bleeps and bloops that created short little tunes repeated over and over again - such as the Super Mario Bros. theme. Now, Cannon Fodder's theme is a different story. You turn on your trusty Amiga 500, put in the floppy, wait for about 20 seconds until it's loaded and then you're greeted with a tune that you still find yourself singing in the shower, 16 years after the game's release. So, everyone:
War! Never been so much fun!
War! Never been so much fun!
War! Never been so much fun!
War! Never been so much fun!
Go to your brother!
Kill him with your gun!
Leave him dying in his uniform, dying in the sun!

Oh, and they also did this cheap music video for the CD versions, but with a slower version of the song.

1. Monkey Island Theme. Do I need to say anything? No, I don't. So here you go, a live arrangement. Watch until the end.

You should totally check out the IRC channel.
While you're at it, go check out my band, Her Majesty's Heroines.

Props to Jackfrost for posting PS2 ending, but I just beat PS4 a little while ago and that game's music rocks, especially the intro.

I like a lot of music from RPGs. FF6 opera house brings back great memories. Wild Arms and Dragon Quest too.

Nobody has mentioned anything silent hill yet?

Oh and the FFVII Jenova Theme. I had it as a ringtone for the longest.

But as Hawk/Bunny Said. Anything FFVII sound track wise is fucking sick.

I do really like FFX's sound track too, Seymore's Theme, The Fight with "Sin" at the end (just in case someone somehow hasn't played it who wants to), Hymn of the Faith.

I've only ever bought 3 games sound tracks, FFIV, FFVII, and FFX.

I love the battle theme from FF 13. I think it's called "blinded by light."
