I strongly disagree on Donkey Kong. I think the version they're referring to was the super-expanded one for Super Game Boy in the mid 90's. They took 4 level arcade game and gave it Super Mario World length! That's pretty fuckin epic if you ask me.

Big fan of Contra III: The Alien Wars. Not surprised it made the cut.

They sucked Sega's dick pretty hard with these lists. I like NiGHTS: Journey Into Dreams, but it got pretty tepid reviews, and it almost certainly shouldn't be #6 on the Wii list.

That is a good point, but donkey kong is a game with four different areas, but with over 30 actual levels, most of which never are played by the casual gamer. I can beat Super Mario World in 2 hours, and thats not even close to a record time. Donkey Kong has been "beaten" only a few known times, and never in 2 hours. THAT is epic, if you ask me.

And Tetris was a hole in my argument, for sure. The graphics may be cleaner in the arcade version, but gameplay and music is much better for the gameboy.

Speaking of Donkey Kong, is it even possible to beat Donkey Kong 3? Confused I stayed with it for hours and it seemed to just rinse and repeat. Neutral

Donkey Kong isn't a gameboy game.

You probably think Rondo isn't a SNES game either.

Donkey Kong is an arcade game which happened to get a shitty, half-assed port to a primitive portable. It received 3 translations on the NES, as well as three ports of sequels as well. It was also ported in numerous games on the SNES. But because Nintendo apparently couldn't think of 200 original (and actually great) gameboy games, they put the lamest port of one of the most ported games of an era.

And also, cleandregs Z, I'm sorry you think that it is new better than the NES version, but seriously, the arcade version? Have you ever played it in the arcade? Have you ever played it on the Game Boy? I don't understand why you're giving the Game Boy port shit when, unlike the billions of other Donkey Kong ports you mentioned, it actually tried to do something different and original by enhancing the graphics and adding new play mechanics to the first four levels, as well adding nine worlds worth of new levels (all of which were challenging and fun and kept you on your toes with traps as you progressed), bonus rounds for finding Pauline's accessories, and the ability to save your progress. So, while the Game Boy port's "shittiness" is debatable (because video games are "subjective"), it wasn't a "half-assed" port at all and completely deserves to be on the list, maybe not #8 though.

That's because most American cartoonist are going to Japan to draw Hentai.

It's also a real bitch getting a Donkey Kong machine on an airplane. Not to mention fitting it on your lap.

You can rephrase my comments all you want, the gameboy port is a pale imitation of Donkey Kong. Just because they dressed it up doesn't make it better. Improvements aside, it is not the same game. It has different mechanics, and therefore a differently gameplay and difficulty level. I prefer to original gameplay, and the original difficulty level. And the original sound and graphics. And as a side note, out of the "billions" of other Donkey Kong ports out there, I am only aware of one which left the game intact (there is probably more than one, granted), so even though they may have made different changes from your cherished gameboy classic, their are many other cinderalla versions of Donkey Kong. Sometimes I want a port to "do something different" like an FF6 remake, but that is because I have completed the original FF6. I have never beaten the arcade version of Donkey Kong, the most difficult (conventional) version.

Editted in: Enhanced the graphics for gameboy- I don't think so. At least find a screenshot of a real Donkey Kong game if you have never actually played it. I can respectfully disagree about a lot of things because it all opinion in the end, but that is just crazy talk.

Have you even played the Game Boy version of Donkey Kong? While the arcade version is a true classic and was an awesome game for the time, saying the GB one is "a shitty, half-assed port" is crazy and makes me think you're probably just blinded by nostalgia. I don't care if you prefer the arcade one, but I wouldn't say the GB one is horrible by any means. I agree that they are quite different games, but that's the whole point. In fact, I wouldn't even call it a port, as all of the levels except the first four are original. w/e though, to each his own

P.S. Maybe I'm just an idiot, but from what I remember, DK was only ported once to the NES (which was nearly identical to the arcade version other than worse graphics, a smaller screen, missing levels, and other stuff) and I sure don't remember it being ported to SNES

On-topic: Those lists are gay

Hey guys, what's up

That port was fully assed, but seemed like a completely different game. Fun, though.
