I never even knew what the pause trick was before this thread. I had to youtube it to see what you guys were talking about. I can't say I've beaten all the games, but I did finish 1-3 without knowledge of this cheat.

Ah, the Anniversary collection. My NES system had broekn down some 15-17 years ago, I was never able to play a single NES Mega Man game until the summer of 2004. I have very fond memories of nostalgia and such upon getting that collection. Honestly the "Jump" and "fire" switch didn't bother me so much cos it had been years since I had played the games anyway. Ever since I bought that collection, I have proceeded to beat each of the classic games a thousand times (well not 7 or 8 cos they kinda suck) and playing them has still not gotten old.

Yeah, my NES broke a while ago as well. Now if only Konami would do the same thing with Contra, I'd be a much happier man (I played Contra more than ANYTHING on that console, I never got tired of it).

Get Contra 4 for the DS. It has direct ports of Contra and Super C unlockable. Imagine, playing the one true Contra... WHEREVER YOU GO!11111oneoneone

You should totally check out the IRC channel.
While you're at it, go check out my band, Her Majesty's Heroines.

I guess it was excluded since it had a release on the GBA a few years ago. Good luck trying to find it now, though.

Contra 4 is badass. You get 3 Contra games and the awesome challenge mode which is a hell of a value for $19.99. The only problem I have with the Contra and Super C unlockables is the aspect ratios they used. They give you 2 options, but I'm not satisfied with either one. On one, the top and bottom of the screen get cropped off and on the other everything gets smushed to fit, making things look slightly weird and bullets hard to see. I would have just preferred black bars on the sides to preserve the correct ratio with nothing cut out/distorted.

Contra and MegaMan in the same thread. It's like Capcom versus Konami here. A buddy of mine had the Anniversary collection for ps2. The unlockable MegaMan episodes were pretty cool. Hmmm. I've got an idea now.
