and i though the girls at my high school were brainless. So, let me get this straight, because the cities main economic foundation is now overseas, teen girls want to get knocked up? Most teen girls at my high school were so self centered that they most likely would never have kids.
And the thing about the birth control, the mayor saying "they have no right to decided this for our children" or whatever. Well it looks to me that the kids can't decided for themselves anyway. Although the nurse's intentions are good, these girls WANT to get pregnant and will refuse any birth control what so ever. And how does the father of the kid fit into their plain . . . oh wait, never mind.
And the parents, oh jeebus love a duck hunt, we just can never blame the parent for this. If there is even a hit their kid is trying to have a kid, then they should interveen and i don't mean a half ass little soft voice sit down. I mean if the bitches want it, then force them to work at a daycare center on weekends and make sure the rugrats get a lot of suger in the system too. If the parents don't do something to change their kids mind, this is what is going to happen:
The daughter will go through the whole pregnancy thing and be delusional enough to think it's worth it. She has the kid, she realizes her life is ruined, freak out and skip town, leaving her parents to raise the baby. And this whole pact thing won't hold either, each one of those girls will freak out and either leave their parents to raise the kid or give them up to foster care.
And how about pointing the fingers at movies. That's bull shit too, because you could counter that with movies and cable shows showing the hardships a teen mom must go through. The girls' brains are just wired incorrectly and their tunnel vision is preventing them from even realizing the consequence.
Seriously, when i read the title i though this would be a pact about girls trying NOT to get knocked up but when syd said "dumbest thing" i had a feeling i was in for a long ride.

My idea for a Reproduction Review Board might be a little fascist, so I'm going to save it.
Also, this might be missing the point a little, but I love how they list Juno as one of the movies "glamorizing unwed teenage mothers", considering Juno spent eighty percent of that movie whining about being pregnant (the other twenty percent was spent talking about Sunny D).

I think people need to get over bith control, I slept with the same girl from 13 to 19 and if we had lived in one of those uptight opal ring virgin power states we'd have like 9 damn kids. It's real simple, wrap it up!

I think the worst thing about this is these girls probably got the idea because the fucking news glamourizes being pregnant and having kids. All you read about and watch nowadays are stories about how Angelina is having/adopting another kid, or how good a celeb looks once she has a baby.
These kids don't realize Juno isn't an actual parenting guide and that all these celebs that live happily ever after once they all pop out bastard children end up happy because they all have nannies and personal trainers.
Fuck these girls for being morons. If the parents of these girls had any sense whatsoever they'd convince these girls to give up the kids for adoption.

First of all Juno wants to give her kid away, and in Knocked up they are supposed to be in their 20's, lets not forget problems that can occur when children have babies.
Here's my facist look on things, if the goverment can tell us when we can smoke when we can gamble when we can drink, when we can drive, why can't they tell us when we can have children? I think that would be the best cure for this. Who NEEDS a child when they are 15-16?

The story caught my attention too so I made a Facebook thread of it. My ideas parallel some that are already on here (I'm kinda worried to see ):
Facebook wrote:
The War on Teen Pregnacy
According to Good Morning America 1 in 17 (or maybe it was just 17) teenage girls make a pact to get pregnant at the same time. I blame the following:
1. Parents - Dumbasses raise dumbasses.
2. Their peers - cause kids are idiots around other idiot kids.
3. Movies like Juno and Knocked Up which glamorize pregnancy. I hope Diablo Cody and Judd Apatow know they're going to burn in Hell.
As the news reports: "All it took was a few simple questions before nearly half the expecting students, none older than 16, confessed to making a pact to get pregnant and raise their babies together. Then the story got worse. "We found out one of the fathers is a 24-year-old homeless guy," the principal says, shaking his head."
That's right, the homeless are knocking up these morons.
I propose a Judge Dredd law - If you are under 25 and pregnant you will be executed ON SIGHT! Shot to the head. Blam! Dead. Done. For the men, mandatory vasectomies if they have been DNA matched from the corpse and/or stem cells.
This will also reduce population which in turn will reduce the demand for oil. Thus, gas prices will go down too.
This plan is win-win. The country will collectively become smarter and gas prices will go back down. I will also secure my place as World Dictator. So really it is win-win-win.

I did too until I let my fingers do the walking and found the article to pull the quote from. At first I assumed it would be Texas, but no, Massachusetts. Good ole Massachusetts. The same state that had the Aqua Teen Hunger Force bomb scare.
Now that the news has broken, I'm sure the wrath of the town, state, etc. will come down on them. I think the letters of protest will outweigh the letters of support on this one.
I tell you, if that happened in Everwood, we'd shun the bejesus out of those girls. Golly, we'd probably run 'em out of town.
Dan wrote
It actually wasn't 1 in 17, it was a group of about 20 girls that made the pact together, 17 of whom actually got baby'd up.

And my respect for humanity as a whole gets knocked down yet another peg. Or notch. Or whatever.
I think that's the second time in the past 6 months, and 3rd or 4th time the past year.

Ok I'm pretty much a Libertarian, so I believe in minimal government. I think they manage to make the most remedial of tasks difficult and run things about as inefficiently as possible, so take what I'm about to say with a grain of salt.
These girls got knocked up, it's funny, they're stupid, we can all laugh at it. Beyond that? who cares? this does not effect any of us in the least. Like I said stupid people have a place in society too. Intelligence isn't humanities only redeeming value. You can say that they are going to end up leeching off our tax dollars, which is true, but you nor I will pay a cent more, and if we did, who cares? We all have the internet, so I assume we all have a roof and 3 squares a day, otherwise our priorities may be a little out of order. Like I said i'm a minimalist government type guy so im not condoning leeching. My point is we all have it pretty good, and Americans have this sense of entitlement, when we live with more luxuries than ever before. in the 1950's only rich women got their nails done, now just about every woman does. We all have cell phones, tv's the internet, video games. Yet we think we need more, so conservatives blame the welfare leechers and democrats blame big business. Why is big business entitled to pay us more? do we all deserve to make as much money as the CEO? I blame all of this on media like MTV. They shove these ultra extravagant lifestyles in our faces and make us feel like that is what we need, or what we are entitled to, when we are not. We are not in a recession because we are stupid (well maybe a little) but we are because we are lazy and apathetic. We have things good enough. Why strive for the top when mediocrity is so good? we are victims of our own prosperity.
EDIT: I just realized i got way off topic, so my apologies for the long winded rant.

I haven't read it in a good 7-8 years. To the contrary, the book was very anti-commercialism, and I don't have any sort of problem with that. I love my toys and games and gadgets or whatever. I'm just saying I am by no means considered rich, but I can still afford these little luxuries as a middle class working man, and that is something a lot of americans take for granted.

All I'm saying is child birth should be only had by adults not children themselves. But what can you do about it? When you have a child your college is paid for, you get cheap housing, and free money. What are the drawbacks? There really aren't any. They get the stuff we work so hard for, just by spreading their legs open. Bull shit if you ask me.

I agree with you 100%. I guess our only difference is that I don't think it's the governments job regulate this. They regulate enough as it is. Believe me I don't like the idea of people getting free rides. I'm also not opposed to second chances either. See, I would rather go about changing the way in which they get a free ride, as opposed to making another law prohibiting them from having children. You can't stop people from having children, it's immoral and simply cannot reasonably be done, you can however refuse to offer up the benefits in having one.

I'm not saying "Let's obolish teens having sex" but lets face it when life gets hard for females the easiest way to get by is to have a child, for the males its the exact opposite, so I guess in essence we are just as much the cause as they are, except with none of the perks.

I can almost picture this scene . . . regretfully:
hobo: I appreciate you girls letting me know the joy of fucking again, but what if you have kids? how will you support yourself?
dumb teen girl: oh it's okay, the government will support up and . . . each other . . .
I smell an emmy.
Anyway i agree with Burt that there should be some regulation towards giving single moms handouts. If the father skips town or god forbid dies then the mother should have compensation to help raise the kid right. However, if there is even wind of something like this, that the girls did it intentionally then the government should close it's wallet to them.
It's just sad, there are so many things in society that cannot be avoided, teen pregnancy are something that can be avoided and yet it's still on the rise.

Fuck those girls(no pun intended) they're fucking stupid and can deal with it when the shit hits the fan, they wanted the kids, so let them have them and deal with them and find out how great it really isn't(at that age at least).
At least they can skip homework and say their baby ate it.

Sorry I don't have my book report, I ran out of baby wipes and it was the only paper I had left.
