y'know , this is one of the reasons i'm atheist. being a religious person takes all the fun out of life. I dont see how people can be deluded to think that a god exists (no offense toward any religious people) the only reason christianity exists is that a shitload of people believe there is a god- and i havent seen any proof of existance of one

I think that if it was forbidden to teach children religion until they were 18 years old, that all religions would die out in 3 - 4 generations. The trick is, they hook you when you are young and believe anything adults tell you, no matter how incredible or insane it might be. And, then you end up having those beliefs etched into your very being as an adult, so you just pass them on to your kids.

I'm sorry, but when you say I'm deluded, I'm going to be offended.

I have nothing against people being atheists, that's your choice, but please don't insult people because they have a different opinion than you. Use intellectual debate and don't reduce yourself to ad hominem tactics.

And thank God we don't live in President Robertson's America.

In my view, non-religious people are people who have no religion, and atheists are people who have no religion and can't help but shove it in my face on how there "is no God". I believe in God. Granted I may be wrong, but we can judge that when we're all dead. I don't support every opinion of the Catholic church (I actually probably hardly support half, since I support stem cell research, gay marriage, and have no problem with abortion), but just shut the hell up about how "I'm wrong". Thank you.

I can't only because after Lebowski, I could never take Nihilists seriously ever again... Which is wrong and bigoted, but... eh.

I hate that you made that reference... And I saw the ABRIDGED 40 minute version! Evil
Edit: On second thought, that's probably why I hated "Godot".

Music can influence you, but it alone isn't going to make you do somethign crazy per se... What i mean is it might give you a certain idea, but it's not going to say make you a bad person... It's not like providing an argument for being a thief or something, or a drug-user... It's one motivation too, but if you raise your kids properly, adn if their old enough to atleast some degree think for themselves... seeing a person in GTA kill somebody isn't gonig ot make you a murderer, it may give you the idea to murder, or the means, but it's not like persuading you to.

It may influence your view on people but it wont' dictate it. Because you have a lot of other inputs, and the game is not providing any persuasive measures in it's expression, it's just expresssing violence, giving the idea of violence, it's not giving any sane/normal persona reason to go out and commit attrocities.

I think for the most part, when given to a person of proper age, say a teen or whatever, then the game/music is fine... Because it alone isn't going to have them go do something crazy, other things have to be messed up with them in order for that to happen.

Yeah, pop culture isn't evil, thats just the PTA complaining about how they're too lazy to watch over their kids. If I ever have some I'll let them watch listen and read what they want (I'll try to influence them to listen to good stuff but won't punish them for not doing it or anything) and I'll just do my best to teach them right and wrong, then let them do what they want. Of course I'm biased for that because I've always had a pretty good idea of right and wrong but when I'd be like listening to I am the Walrus or something, my mom would kind of half lecture me on how bad drugs are.
