I like Game Grumps, but it stupid how their opinions are treated like fact. Egoraptor says that Super Castlevania IV is worse than Castlevania 1 because in Super Castlevania IV your jump and whip attack are more controllable, so you rely on secondary weapons less. How can a game be inferior for having better controls? The entire internet now agrees with Egoraptor. He's still a good entertainer, I wish people would call him on his bullshit though.

I hope we don't ever meet in real life, because it sounds like you like literally everything I hate, and vice versa. The universe would probably implode on itself if we shook hands. Fucking.

I've thought the same thing in the past, and I honestly have probably watched very, very few, excluding Fernin and a few others. But once I look at it like "it's like watching Mystery Science Theater 3000, but video games" then it can be entertaining, though I prefer ones where the person just tells about the history of the game, the company, etc.. as opposed to forcing humor.

This, basically. I often watch certain Let's Players because I'm enjoying the commentary itself rather than the actual game.

I couldn't tolerate chuggaconroy. I only watched him through his LP of Majora's Mask since I've never played it. Aside from the forumers on here, I follow:

NakaTeleeli who does a rotation of 3 games (long term, short term, and a co-op one) at a time (Currently it's Mega Man Legends 2, ZOE HD Collection, and New Super Mario Brothers Wii U)

RoahmMythril while currently on break has done a lot of Konami and Mega Man stuff.

I'm plowing through the backlog of GameCenter CX one episode at a time after checking out some select ones like Mega Man 2 and Battletoads.

Though I'm subscribed to Game Grumps (and Jon Tron before them), but only check in on it oocasionally. They need to stop cutting at around 10-15 minutes a clip.

While not exclusive to let's plays, I follow spazfox who is currently working on a "Let's Get Pissed and Play..." series with Fallout 3, drinking throughout the play.

Kikoskia is my all time favorite, and my inspiration for doing LPs in the first place. I adore Spoony's LP's too, he is SO bloody funny, and I think I may have even picked up some mannerisms of his from watching his SWAT 4 LP so much. Fernin, obviously, is always a ton of fun to watch. I love the approach he takes to the games he plays.

I generally don't watch many LPs, especially to completion, and as such, I can currently only think of two LPers I like:

-chuggaconroy, because he is a good LPer, and has really great LPs of the really great EarthBound/MOTHER series.

-Two Best Friends Play, because I also find them rather good and humorous LPers. Was introduced to them by this video.

He cut/pasted the old embed code off of youtube.

Deku, edit your post and in the code where you see numbers for height and width, cut them in half to scale it down.

While you're at it, remove the extra line between what you quoted, and what you typed. So ugly.

I have a feeling that you just haven't seen better. They're literally no different from any other screechers playing SNES games. That, and you kind of have this attitude of "I like it, so it is perfect and has nothing worth criticizing" about anything you enjoy. You and I actually like a lot of the same things, but you just throw a shitfit if there's something in particular about it that I don't enjoy.

But yeah, Two Best Friends are bad. They could get away with the whole "oh we're just doing it as a comedy thing" when they start yelling over the cutscenes or game information, but then they're not really all that funny to pull it off. From what I've seen they just can't let something happen on the TV without yelling about it, and when nothing's happening they just yell about the first thing that comes into their mind without thinking about it.

CamWin, constantly telling people who don't like the things you like that they are "whining" is starting to sound a lot like whining. Life Potion

It just has more to do with the fact that it seems like you complain about literally everything, even when you're trying to compliment something. A good summary of you "complimenting" something consists of "yeah, it was good, but here's 40 reasons why it's bad (insert five paragraphs explaining why), but yeah, it's really good! Nine out of ten!" I probably am whining to some (large) extent, but I'm just getting tired of the negativity that seems to pervade a lot of posts on the forums.

I don't think everything's perfect. I kind of get that you don't want too muchconflict or negativity, and it's great that you're a genuinely nice guy like that, but there are pros and cons, and the whole "I like that!" "Me too!" "Me too!" style of conversation is uninteresting to me. I'll bring up a flaw or something to discuss it, not insult for the sake of feeding my evil scientist ego or something.I like debate and discussion. I quit baseball and hockey in high school because I enjoyed debate club and Model UN more.

I can literally say "Oh, I liked this game and some of its features, but I have some nitpicks," then you almost sound offended and either get very defensive, or just yell out "You're wrong" without any sort of extrapolation, either because you're such a fan that you view it as an insult to yourself, or more likely you're just the genuinely nice person that I think you are and view it as me being aggressive. Either way, I'm not trying to sound like an overly negative person, I just like my thoughts and ideas to be as complete as possible the first time around. If I sound overly negative, then I'm obviously not doing it right, then, and ever since a particular conversation with Alow, I've been trying to improve.

For what it's worth, the more low-key guy in Two Best Friends can be pretty funny, but the loud-ass guy who's almost constantly yelling about every little thing that shows up on the screen digs into a part of my brain that is only normally tapped by yappy dogs and that sound that comes out of a car with bad brake discs. They could be good, they just need to calm their asses down and show off the game a little more.

Getting back on topic, I finished off these two text ones recently, LPs of Skies of Arcadia and Suikoden. I played Arcadia to death, and this guy found stuff I didn't even know existed in the original, non-Legends version. I had always meant to try Suikoden, but just never found the time to, and from what I can tell, this LP for it is a pretty good playthrough with all possibilities and info he can share.

Lol i'm trying to think what this was but I can't remember.

I'm just gonna chip in on the Two Best Friends Play debacle since I like them.

I get that people don't like them. Pat can be a bit loud at times. However I will say if you watched them on Machinima that they are not their let's plays at all.

Their LPs are on theswitcher or however it is spelt. Their one of RE2 is pretty good. They are doing one of Chrono Trigger at the moment which I am enjoying.

Their stuff for Machinima is just them playing a game and then them making jokes over it.

I dunno which one you watched, or even both. I just got the feeling you watched Machinima and not their actual channel. To be fair the loudness extends over both.

I still keep trying these Two Best Friends, but no thanks. Though the more low-key guy is actually pretty funny, the guy who is constantly screaming about every little object that pops into screen just makes me turn off the videos 3 minutes in. That's the last I'll say.

I know I mentioned it in my mega-post that got drowned out a page back, but this Illbleed LP is probably the best example of a good LP for me. He took a game few people have ever heard of or played, recorded insane amounts of footage, and spliced them together into slick videos. It gets a little dull (100% due to the game being repetitive), but I think it nails it when it comes to why and how you should LP a game:

Slayer is best LPer. robotboombox.com.

Also for the TBFP haters (who shouldn't exist because TBFP is awesome), check out some of their other projects, like the FULL playthroughs they do on their own youtube page. They're doing The Walking Dead right now and just finished Eternal Darkness. They're not as screamy and loud as the Machinima vids, and it shows that these guys actually really know their shit. Old School playthroughs is good too. They're currently doing Metroid Fusion. It's not that bad.

There's also Fighterpedia:
