Yeah. Think before posting, Hack. He's not retiring because he doesn't want to work; he's retiring because he's probably going to be dead soon.

Him stepping down is still going to hurt Apple, this is where my excitement comes from.

Him on the verge of death... Well that just sucks... He's an intelligent man who accomplished something many people can only dream of

He isn't on the verge of death. Well, not now, anyways. I don't think that this would really hurt Apple.

Fantadouche, I was simply calling hacker out for being a jackass. Theres a difference between speaking your mind and saying "Yay, I don't like Apple and am glad this dude is sick and stepping down". Then he proceeded to say he wasn't glad he was sick and what not, so all is good.

Jesus Christ. I'll see if I can find Steve Jobs for you guys, since you all want to blow him so bad. And honestly, I kinda respect you guys for it. The man has a lot of health problems and will probably die within the next five years. Kudos to you for wanting to ease his pain with blowjobs. But I still wouldn't buy a Mac. -Syd Lexia

Now that Jobs is retired, I wonder if he'll finally find time to change his clothes?

I read about this early this morning and I am sad. Jobs is a pioneer in the tech world and even if I don't agree with a large number of Apple decisions, I think he is an influence in the world of computing that was necessary and ultimately positive. I wish the circumstances were better for him and I hope that he recovers.

In many ways his departure is similar to that of Bill Gates. Apple is on the right track and he will still be around as a guide. He won't be the face of the company any longer, but he will be the puppet master.

As for anyone who is happy about his failing health or Apple's position because of his immediate departure, shame on you. This isn't the way that anyone wants a job to end and even if it means positive things in the future, the circumstances are terrible and not worthy of joy.

Thirded.

I try to tell my wife all the time that Apple doesn't make a bad product, but they make a stupidly overpriced product. You can get much more bang for your buck going elsewhere or get the same quality cheaper.

She won't listen and has an iPad on her Christmas wish list which I will not be purchasing for her.

If you're insinuating that Apple themselves cause people to be pretentious then you might be a retard.

Their advertising campaigns are extremely pretentious yes. But apple hasn't installed chips in peoples brains and forced them to be a certain way.

Aside from apple, since the mere mention makes people piss themselves in anger, I hope steve is okay heath wise. He is very responsible for making pixar what it is today and they made some of my favorite films.

I get that people dislike apple and I am not saying people can't speak their opinions on that but to cheer the apparent demise pose-jobs is a little petty.

So you don't blame the people themselves for acting like dicks to other people, you blame the company that made the shit they buy? Like the people weren't dicks to begin with, they were just normal happy people until Apple came along and made them pretentious because they are evil?

Congratulations. You win todays retard award.

The hell? Am I allowed to express /my/ mind with freedom? Because at the time it said that Hacker was acting like a tactless choad. Where else is he going to learn how to act like a functioning adult in society? I'm actually doing him a favor when I call him out on this shit because from talking to him I've gathered that not too many people in his real life will.

We're allowed to point out when we think someone is being inappropriate. Obviously you know that, you do it often.

GPF hit it on the head, too. Jobs was great for the industry, and we should always want competition to be at the highest possible. Apple isn't where I personally turn to for most of my products, nor do I see it as some evil company, so I'm not going to actively root for it to tank.

Personally I never had a problem with Apple, hell I'd even use their OS in a dual-boot if they'd make it work with more than a handful of hardware specs. I think they have been great for the computer industry and have a least given Microsoft some sort of competition especially recently, which can only be good for us, the consumers. A lot of their problem is their insistence on selling dated hardware for $1000+. Too bad Jobs is resigning for the reasons he is, but it might allow the company to maybe get to a point where their OS is more compatible with more people's computers and allow them to really take some market share from Microsoft.

But I get your point.

yeah. i understand josh's point, but it was all semantics really. apple itself is not pretentious, but those apple-tards hold apple products in higher regard than everything else. like some sort of BS status symbol. THAT is annoying

I actually tried having Mac OS X installed on my computer using multi-boot, but because my laptop is a piece of shit, it work terribly. I understand that Hackintoshes require some tinkering to get working, but my laptop wouldn't work with it well no matter what I tried. Once I buy a netbook, I'll try Mac OS X on it. That is IF I get a netbook.
The prices for Apple hardware is also one of the things that has me not wanting to purchase a Mac.

Also, as I said before in this thread, Jobs is not resigning entirely. He is going from CEO to Chairman of the Board. Some people still think otherwise, and this irks me.

Sent from my iPod.

I just think it's unfair that saying someone or something inspires someones behavior by their very existence. It akin to hitler being inspired by nietzsche, or people being said to do acts of violence due to video games. We would all, I hope, say those inspirations are a far reach but we take this company and say it makes people pretentious.

It reminds me of when Microsoft took a plunge when Bill Gates announced. The company went strait in the shitter after he left.

Oh wait....

Oh investors. You're such fickle, foolish creatures.
