Yep, I downloaded the JuiceDefender as you recommended. I didn't have the phone for long enough to say if the battery life is improved, but it appears that I can go a full day on a single charge, so I'm happy with it.

Got the Bionic today. Totally in love with it, but I was coming from a Droid 1, so this thing feels like going from a monochrome Nokia to a Motorola RAZR. I REALLY wish that 4G was available where I work. At least its available at home though. Downloaded Juice Defender not sure if I like it though. Since everytime it goes into sleep mode it cuts my data and then I have to wait for 4G to reestablish a connection at home. Takes about 5 minutes for it to go from wifie to 3G to 4G.
Very small thing about the Bionic that I love for some reason is when I hit the power button to shut off the screen it shuts off like a CRT TV. Also got a huge bundle at Verizon this morning for $99, came with a Docking station, Car Charger, Phone Cover, Screen Cover, Extra Battery, GPS Dock, mini HDMI cable, BlueTooth Earpiece and I was going to get the lapdock, it was only $100 after a rebate, but decided $350 was enough for one day.
P.S. I <3 4G so much.

Glad you like the Bionic. I'm enjoying the Revolution as well, but like I said it's my first smart phone so I have no basis for comparison.
While we're on the subject, are there any cool apps that you guys recommend? Thus far I've got:
-JuiceDefender
-Angry Birds not really an app, but whatever)
-Facebook
-Gmail/Yahoo
-V Cast Song Identifier
-TD Bank
-Vlingo (a voice recognition app. Works pretty well when I want to text someone while driving).

Depends what you want apps? Games? New features? If you like emulation Snes9x released a mobile version for free. Its probably the best one ive ever used on my phone.
And doesn't it figure in the room I work 4G isn't "available" but the second I leave the room (still in the building mind you) 4G is back up.

Try Snes9x EX, not sure if it's available for your phone as Nesoid and Snesoid weren't available for mine, but it's hands down much better. The sound quality and ability to run games is much better. not sure how much of that is my new phone compared to my old one.
Also all those features are already pre loaded by verizon, cept reddit. If you wanna try out the apps before buying or downloading them go to Amazon, they got some free trials you can play online that emulate how it will look on a phone. Plus you get an hour.

blapmarket lets you do that as well.
i have an HTC Evo 4G (even though 4G is not available in AZ thru Sprint.) i'll check out snes ex to see if its compatible w/my phone. i only use it for RPG's and it works well for that since the touch screen makes it impossible to play anything but RPG's.

| 4G is blazing fast. It is faster than local broadband. However, not all 4G offerings are equal, and it depends where you are located, and it depends how your phone handles it, and it uses your data plan, and in most cases the connection is not as stable. It is supposed to be at least 100mb/s. While my home connection is only 25mb/s there is no comparison. Indoors at my location WiFi is faster. Outside 4G is. In all cases, 3G is slower. |
Woah, 4G is that fast? The fastest connection I have is my home connection (which is currently the fastest in the country I live in*), with a download rate of 1-5 mb/s. I rarely get 3G access on my phone, so I usually get a dialup speed download rate with it. I can't wait until 4G is available in my country. Whenever that happens.
*Well, that's what the advertisements for it said.

Also, there's NES.emu. Made by the same developer. It's also very good.

In the New Haven area, 4G averages 14mb/s on my device.

GP/Douche, what are your thoughts on rooting & modding your phone to run a different OS than the native OS? my hand-me-down HTC Evo came w/CyanogenMod installed and i dont see many issues with it. i just want to see what you guys think

While I get as many computers as I desire to fuck up and repair, the same is not true for phones. So I only get one.
I need a working phone and can't live without one. I treat it as a device I must have working at all times. So therefore I don't mod it. I don't root it.
I see nothing wrong with rooting and I am actually in favor of it. I just don't want to do it myself.
At some point in the future I'll have to deal more in depth with these OS's and I'll have secondary devices. When that happens I'll definitely test out most of the methods of hacking the phones.

When I had a Droid 1, rooting was essential. Overclocking the CPU was a neccessity. Now with a Dual Core and a 1 GHz Processor, thats not really the case. Yea some of the mods are fun and some of them can remove the Bloat ware, but I just ignore what's on my phone and it doesn't bother me none. I rarely use the app menu anyways. The battery, while running 4G is already shit, so overclocking and what have you isn't going to make it any better. I do like being able to turn my phone into a mobile hotspot for free though...
