These puzzles can kiss my ass. Are you enjoying an interesting storyline? Yes, you are? Oh, then play Q-bert for another 20 minutes. WTF.

I played for a couple hours this morning, and made it the fourth 4th boss/killer. It is fucking impossible! I am playing on Normal. You know the system update you had to download when you first booted it up? That was a patch that decreases the difficulty. The patch was released in Japan as well, because even Japanese gamers complained it was too hard. So keep that it mind. No matter how hard the game seems, IT USED TO BE HARDER.

I am having a lot of fun though. As frustrating as the action sequences are, it's really satisfying when you prevail. On my next couple plays, I'll probably choose easy, just so I can see the alternate story paths more quickly.

Gamers are such wimps these days. I am saddened that Atlus made that concession for us.

I'm not a bad enough dude, but I am an edgy little shit. I'll do what I can.

Well, when Japanese gamers complain, you know that is fucked up. And I think you can choose not to accept the patch. I'd like to see what Not Sure can do with the game on the hardest difficulty, unpatched.

Also, filed under "Sad": The arcade game in the bar has 64 levels. I currently am stuck on the 4th one.

Watching some of the videos for hard mode, it does look like a huge pain in the ass. It looks like it suffered from game developers knowing the answers ahead of time without taking the player's unfamiliarity with the puzzles into account.

I'm going to buy the game eventually, but I'm busy with a lot of work right now, and I want to be able to devote some time to playing it when I do.

That's a good idea, Greg. I've been at work all day and all I can think about is playing it some more.

So I finished my first runthrough last night. I wish I had made worse choices. I feel like other runthroughs are somewhat ruined for me, as I'm pretty sure I already got the "best" ending.

#EDIT: I didn't. There are apparently 9 endings.

I do. I'll probably order the game on Monday and let you know what I think of it after a night or two of playing it.

Went through that with Bastion recently. I actually got angry when I had to stay late. I'll probably pick it up sometime in mid-August, when the hotel dies down.

I'm told that the story pacing is a little bit better this time around with an Atlus game. Although I like the series so far, sitting through some of the Persona games' dialogues can be frustrating when they tend to drag on and talk in circles.

Okay, this was my actual question:

1) Do you have an XBox?'
2) If you have an XBox, why aren't we friends?

Oh, my bad. No, my 360 died and someone offered to pay half on a PS3 so I got one of those instead.

I hope there's no achievement for beating this game on Hard, because I already know I will never be able to complete the game on the hardest difficulty. The game contains the worst possible thing that can ever be put in a video game, and something that one would not expect to see in a game of this genre.

I hate to keep bumping this thread myself but some things:

If anyone finds an import site selling this, let me know: http://atlus-d-shop.com/products/detail.php?product_id=150&PHPSESSID=607709ae6ee746daf7da603d29183644

Also Catherine had Atlus's biggest North America launch sales ever: http://www.destructoid.com/catherine-breaks-atlus-sales-records-207766.phtml

Not bad for a game that Atlus almost didn't release here: http://www.destructoid.com/atlus-has-no-plans-to-release-catherine-in-north-america-194958.phtml

Also, interesting note. One of the articles says that Atlus has a 20 year history. Not entirely true. Atlus has been around since 1987, actually, which is 24 years. Their second game ever was the LJN-published Karate Kid.

I've been watching The Game Heroes' 21 part video playthrough of it. Currently they just answered the question about public nudity.

You get different questions every time. Well, maybe not every time, but there are way more questions than there are opportunites to answer questions.

Glad to see it selling well, shows that gamers are willing to take a chance on some things. It obviously couldn't compete with the fall crowd (on 360 at least), so they released it at a time that's had a slow trickle of games. It makes me wonder why publishers won't release artsy, interesting games in the slow times of the year, instead of forcing them to compete with the fall blockbuster shooters.

Great game, by the way. I am currently about to start Nightmare 5 "Quadragonal" and I am absolutely hooked on the story.

I've gotten better at Rapunzel, but I'm still finding it harder than the main game. I'm on level 29 now...
