Man Snatcher and Policenauts were awesome. The Sega-CD version of Snatcher though, had a terrible ending image of Metal Gear looking like a freaking Sega-CD, instead of the kick ass robot it was.
I'm still pushing for a remake of the original two Metal Gears, and Airforce Delta Strike. Though a re-release of Suikoden II (never gonna happen) will be appreciated.

I'd buy a new Goemon game if it got released in America. Then I'd go ice skating in Hell because it would have just frozen over.

I was also thinking, why not have Ubisoft buy or merge with Konami?

Ky, I don't really understand your point. Their options are looking like:
A) Close the doors and sell off IPs.
B) Accept a buyout.
C) Keep slugging it out until A or B is unavoidable.
Konami needs a buyer who will care about the IPs. None of the big third party studios can do that. If EA or Activision bought Konami, they'll bury them quickly if the underperform and send the IPs to other studios under their massive corporate umbrellas.
Capcom could do some interesting stuff with Konami's IP, but likely they'd just use them to make Castlevania/Contra DLC titles to improve their margins.
Ky, selling to Nintendo is in Konami's best interest, because it keeps them in business. How the fans feel about it is irrelevant. Either they get onboard, or they whine like little bitches. You know why I got a 360? Because I wanted to play Soul Calibur 4 and I got tired of whining like a little bitch how unfair it was that I couldn't play it on the Wii. So I got onboard. Anyone who feels "alienated" is bringing it on themselves. Get onboard. But if a sale occurs, that's not Konami's job to sell the games, it's Nintendo's. And exclusivity has always been Nintendo's selling point. Adding more of the most recognizable game franchises ever made to their already impressive portfolio would only help them. |
Yeah, you're right on that one, Syd. It is more important for the company to stay in business and have the fans go to different consoles rather than keep trying to make games on all the consoles and risk losing it all.
But I have another question: what if some of the fans are on a budget and can't get another console right away? This applies to me, as I want to get either an XBOX 360 or a PS3, but am a bit tapped on cash.

Konami itself doesn't even to seem to care about it's IP's, personally after some thought, I think it would be better if a large 3rd party company bought them, that way the games can be made for all consoles.

I disagree.
With the Tom Clancy games, Assassin's Creed games, Farcry and the Brothers in Arms games, I could see potential if Konami merged with them. Plus they are risk takers, with some of their games. Though who ever was in charge of HAZE should be shot...

Assassins Creed was horrendous, I enjoyed 2 but never want to play through it again, and Brotherhood was a blast. I think they finally found out how to make games fun, rather than coming up with 4-5 things to do then repeat in each area.

Capcom is the only company I want to see buy Konami. I want to see what evil plans come about when Wesker teams up with Dracula in a Resident Evil/Castlevania cross over.

Well, the problem people have with Konami is that, as Douche said, they don't care about their IPs. Capcom is the process of rebooting popular franchises such as Devil May Cry and Resident Evil, to much fan backlash, so they're probably not the best ones to tell Konami how to make better products.
Ubisoft is terrible. They have a lot of shit IPs. For example, Raving Rabbits. In fact, they're one of the top producers of Wii shovelware.

I'd say Capcom is still making the best games though, everyone else is churning out garbage. Even when it's not that great (RE5, SFIV, MM10) it's still better than most.

EA or Capcom would both work in my book, but if EA has any plans on including Chris Collinsworth as a Voice Actor or anything, they are officially out.

I don't want EA anywhere near ANY Konami Franchises. I don't even want EA near videogames as a whole.
I heard an interesting rumor that these Capcom Reboots are supposed to be running alongside the regular games. Don't know how true that is though. Devil May Cry kinda needed a reboot anyway, but I don't understand why they'd do it with Reswident Evil, considering they just introduced Tricell and shit.

Well, there is another bright side to Nintendo buying Konami, if that ever happens, that is: We'll be seeing more of Snake in the Smash Bros. games, and maybe even have a DDR-based stage to fight on.

I think I'd agree that selling to Nintendo is their best bet, though I /really/ don't wanna see what Nintendo does with Silent Hill. Also, I'd like to say that I'm pretty sure Smash Bros. is done for good.

Aw, I'm sad about that. I want to see Pyramid Head in Smash Bros., now.

smash bros. is definitely not over. look at the releases:
smash - n64 - 1999
melee - gcn - 2001
brawl - wii - 2008
maybe it's over on the current gen, and maybe we think it's over because it's been three years since it came out with no news of another one, and maybe we think it's over because there's no interest in making another one right now, but you bet your ass that when nintendo unveils a new console and needs some bread and butter titles, smash will be considered, no matter how many years it takes.

Um, Douche, Left 4 Dead is actually a Valve franchise. EA might've distributed some discs of that game, but it's not really theirs.

My point is they have a hand in a lot of good games. I just don't understand why the majority of people have this extreme negative image of them. I mean I love me some Square/Enix but I wouldn't want them to buy Konami (even though Suikoden would hopefully get revived) simply because they have a primary focus on RPG's, Capcom seems to focus on Fighting Games, and EA has a hodge podge of different Genres they produce. Where as Konami pretty much abandoned that and is now the Rhythm and Dance company with a sprinkle of Platformer. A company like Konami needs to go where a company can make use of some of their diverse IP's.

Who's to say Konami will be bought by anyone? Maybe Konami will wake up now and start cranking out the good shit this year like they used to.

Square Enix does more non-RPG stuff than you might think. They own the Taito name and IPs, and they produced this month's Mario Sports Mix game.
