I used to go to a big arcade in Chicago and you couldn't even get a DDR machine to try it because there were "Professional" DDR players there with towels and shit playing them all day.
Also my favorite machine was the Star Wars Trilogy one. I also played the hell out of one of the Time Crisis games.

Probably nothing, but some people still haven't shaken that 80s obsession with having the 'superior' Nipponese version of everything.
Note that I'm not denying that Japan has a lot of really cool stuff that is exclusive to their country, but it really can get a bit ridiculous.

Anyway, I'd have Galaga or 1943. In fact, I could even be cheap and get one of those newfangled multigame ones.
Galaga is good in gameplay and nostalgic value.
1943 is good in gameplay and has one of my favorite video game music in it. And nostalgia.

Third choice:
A.P.B., not a fantastic game, but I spent a large amount of time playing it at the hockey arena when I was little, so it goes on the list. Cool looking cabinet, too.

what was that one cop game that came out a few years ago, where you'd move your body and it would change your POV in the game, so you could dodge bullets and shit?

A beatmania IIDX or pop'n music machine. If not those, then an MVS with a copy of Twinkle Star Sprites so I can finally claim I've played it every possible way.

Police 911. There was a sequel that added a few new characters with different weapons.

Wasn't it like Police 911 or something like that. You started off in a Japanese bar chasing down Yakuza...

Also, add this game to my arcade candidates:
Polybius http://bit.ly/g3WRX
Also, I used bit.ly because this forum seemed to choke on the original URL. It's a wiki page.

You played it? Please steal it, and I'll give my postal address so you can deliver it to me.

MVC2 sucks. It's only fun if you're a massive combotard, and combos are the only thing you like about fighting games. The great thing about MVC1 was that you COULD be a combotard if you wanted, but you didn't have to be. In MVC1, a well-timed counterhit with a super will do significant damage to an opponent by itself. In MVC2, guys regen faster, super moves do less damage, and super moves leave a lot more red than used to. So a super movie is ONLY effect in MVC2 if it's part of a combo. This, combined with the fact that there are now three characters for you to rotate between and turtle make the game completely inaccessible to casual players. If the timer is on, a casual players' match will almost always go to time. |
This sums up pretty much my exact experience with MVC2. I don't know if it is worse than MVC1, I never played it, and in fact never played MVC2 until 2010, but as a casual player I found it really off putting. I went in with really no knowledge other than that the game was supposed to be great, and I ended up feeling like a complete moron because I did run out the entire clock like every round I played, and I could not effectively damage my opponents . I am sure the game could be lots of fun, but as someone who is generally not prone to figuring out 50 hit combos, and was just looking for a fun game that I could pick up quickly it was not for me.
And to answer the question that this post asks I gotta go with the Simpsons game too. I haven't played it since I was a kid and I would love to have the ability to play it whenever I wanted.

I love APB! Ramming into innocent drivers while chasing down litterbugs truly is the Lord's work. Amen.

You can be my 2P any time, Woodzy.
Also, I think I grew up spoiled. My arcade was a big drug front, so the machines were all bought at one time, and only three of them cost more than 50 cents for a play.

So here's to you Mrs. Robinson. People love you more- oh, nevermind. |

One of the brilliant things about the wii version is that you can do this without having to pay for the disc twice.
