So, you want to know how I sleep, do you? Well, I shall grant your wish:
I can only sleep in a bed, not a couch, not on the computer chair, nothing else.
Sleeping in the heat (as is common where I live) is fucking impossible. There must be a fan; sometimes I remove the thicker sheets and/or sleep naked. If it's a cold night, I like to be smothered in blankets.
I sleep best if on my side, but can sleep facing up. I cannot sleep with my face in the pillows. However, it takes a bit to a lot of time to find a comfortable arm position. Sleeping uncomfortably makes my subconscious create a nightmare, as a way of saying "You sleep in an uncomfortable position? FUCK YOU!".
Usually, I have a dim light coming from another room, or the lights from my gadgets and gizmos that make my room look like some kind of lab turned on. I can only sleep in silence.
I have grown towards wearing boxer shorts and whatever shirt I already am wearing. I cannot wear anything else.
Also, I am an insomniac, usually staying up until 4am when nothing much is happening the next day.
So there's a heap of info on how MrSatire sleeps.

I forgot to mention that I usually sleep in an unconscious state, but not always.

Nope. It's pretty common, and my ex did as well (though I don't), so I'd have to shut the screen off on the TV so there was noise/darkness until she fell asleep, and then I could shut the TV off so I could sleep. I used to need music to fall asleep, but now it's hard to fall asleep with noise.

I love all the responses I've seen so far 8D
I usually sleep on my side, with one arm tucked under my pillow, and the other one laying on my side or on the bed; I'll have my lower leg (ie if on my right side, my right leg) stretched out straight, while the other will be curled up against my belly. If I fall asleep on my stomach with my arms tucked under me, I will inevitably wake up with my arms asleep and have to endure the pins and needles as the blood rushes back in. I'm usually uncomfortable sleeping on my back.
Definitely need some sort of white noise to drown out sounds, as I am a very light sleeper and little sounds will wake me up. I have an osculating fan in my room that I usually have on even in the winter simply for the white noise it provides. I hate trying to sleep in a hot room, especially in the summer. Best scenario is a slightly chilly room with lots of blankets and little clothing.
That said, I can sleep anywhere: on the floor, couch, bed, etc, doesn't matter as long as I can lay down and I have a puffy pillow. I can't sleep upright, though, so sleeping in a chair or while on a plane is very difficult. I also can't sleep wearing pants; I hate the feeling of them riding up my legs while I'm rolling around or shifting positions.

Unfortunately, I sleep in negative degree temperatures. So pants are a must. Otherwise, I wouldn't wear them if a genie showed up and offered me three wishes to do so. And, I can in fact sleep upright. I fell asleep sitting in a chair, and I believe I made myself fall asleep standing once.
Does anyone else hate forgetting to brush your teeth and then wake up with the nastiest feel in your mouth?

Usually all lights out (had to pin two towels over my window to block my neighbors' constant backyard light piercing into my room), against a wall with a fan blowing on high, beneath at least 3 covers (6 or 7 at the most).
Occasionally I've tried running WinAmp but the backlighting or the playlist switching to something like Manowar, Rush, Ensiferum, or Nile would distract me (not a lot of quiet/soft music) on my HD.
With the recent stark cold and lack of central heating at my new place, I've been sleeping with two shirts (one long-sleeved) as well as socks and pajama bottoms.

I usually sleep on my side though, arm under the pillow. Also, constantly flipping the pillow over and over all night, always trying to find that ever elusive perfectly cold pillow. |
No, Josh.
I fall asleep with Netflix on almost every night.

3 light blankets, 1 heavy blanket, 1 puff, 3 pillows. I sleep on my side usually facing left. I often end up putting one of the pillows over my head for noise cancellation. Plus, partial suffocation helps me get to sleep.
I usually put on pajama pants and sleep in whatever t-shirt I was wearing. If I'm specially tired, I'll sleep in my jeans. No matter what, I ALWAYS wear socks. I absolutely cannot sleep without socks on.
My room is generally pretty dark, but my computer is right next to my bed. So I get a little of light from my house, CPU, and external HDs.

I'm the other way around, I cannot sleep or do any other bed related activities with socks on, it just feels wrong.

I'll take them off for other bed-related activities, upon customer request, but they go right back on afterward.

on my right side, right arm under pillow, left over pillow. Left leg extended and pointed behind me. Right either straight down or slightly bent toward the front of my body... Sometimes I will watch a movie, but most of the time i listen to mellow classical.. cannot be intrusive classical, so usually I go with chopin, scriabin, stravinsky etc. Usually boxers in a cold room with the blanket layed loosely over about 1/4 of my torso and left leg.. My method is great for keeping roommate from waking me up as he has the ever present threat of a ball shot if comes in my room while I'm sleeping.

Very little. I made the beautiful mistake of marrying a chronic insomniac and she kicks me all the time when I try and sleep. On average, I get four hours a night during weekdays thanks to an extra early morning schedule. Yay.

I cannot sleep with socks unless its freezing freezing cold.
After being in the Navy, I've learned how to sleep in just about any situation. Hot, Cold, Upright, In a chair, in a tight enclosed rack, hard ass firm mattress (even though I prefer a soft mattress), but also its made me a light sleeper when I use to be a real heavy one. Because we need to be on "alert" on the ship with possible alarms, and whatever, ANYTHING that sounds remotely close to an alarm, or siren will wake me up.
If I'm off duty on the ship sleeping, I have to have an iPod in or something, or anything announced will wake me up.

I can't sleep unless I'm facing the left side of the bed. I can't sleep on Pillows and I need to be under a blanket. Summer means fans on full blast and AC cranked. I used to be able to sleep with music or TV in the background but now it must be completely silent. I also can't sleep on my back I have to be on my stomach and on rare occasions on my side with a pillow between my knees.
