Because Ghostbusters has always been about realism, and the giant marshmallow man in the first one was super serious.

Ghostbusters II was...well, not. I don't think the movie is bad, just...boring. More of the same.

That's a completely fair assessment. Because after Ghostbusters came out, the market was suddenly saturated with movies in which ghosts were busted. So when Ghostbusters 2 finally debuted, it was like Jesus Christ in Heaven, not ANOTHER movie about ghostbusting. I mean, Ghostbusters 2 should have tried to reshape the whole ghostbusting genre and the way people thought about ghostbusting movies. First off, there shouldn't have been ANY ghostbusting in the movie. We already saw that in the first movie. Yawn. Ghostbusters 2 should have been about the Ghostbusters trying to save a summer camp, or maybe they go on vacation and accidentally meet Dracula. Now, that's money right there - Ghostbusters 2: Vampirebusters. Also, there should have been new Ghostbusters introduced, who were young and sexy. Johnny Depp and Tiffany Amber-Thiessen were popular at the time, they should have been added on as GIBs, Ghostbusters In Training. And can you say celebrity cameos? A lot of those always help a movie out.

Aye, Syd nailed the crux of my point, really. The content was still "Ghostbusters".

Here's a better question? How do you like your Winston? Stache or stacheless?

The same goes for that judge, in a lot of ways he was the poor man's Walter Peck.

I always thought Kurt Fuller's character was supposed to be the Walter Peck of GBII.

For wahtever reason I always enjoy Fuller in movies, but in this case Peck was the superior dick (or lack thereof)

You're probably right, but I always made the connection based on how Peck and the judge were the ones responsible for ghosts running a muck.

Well, Kurt Fuller is more directly responsible. The judge is only a temporary setback. They go on trial for illegal roadwork, the judge screams at them, then the Scolari Brothers show up and he quickly rescinds his previous position. Meanwhile, Kurt Fuller has them institutionalized.

Because he takes over people by stating at them.

"Anybody who ever built an empire, or changed the world, sat where you are now. And it’s because they sat there that they were able to do it."

"Fighting in a basement offers a lot of difficulties, number one being, you're fighting in a basement."

I love Ghostbusters, but to think the sequel was not a drop-off, that's disillusioned. There is a reason most of you know every line from part one but can't think of a single quote from part deuce. Bill Murray phoned that whole movie in and it shows. It also is hard to take an absolute classic and improve on it, so I think they were very careful not to change things up too much. If you can not see the difference between Ghostbusters 1 and 2 its not because you were not born in the 80's, it's because you were born without a soul.

GB2 is WAY more quotable than GB1. Quotability isn't a gauge of quality though.

Regarding quotable movies, is it just me or are Anchorman The Legend Of Ron Burgundy and Office Space horribly over quoted? I hear Sounds like someone has a case of the Muhndaaays at least every god forsaken day of the week, followed by smug chuckling, it's like everyone forgot the part where captain mullet said he'd punch anyone who said that. All in all, you're just another brick in the wall.

I feel blessed to be one of the few people who hasn't seen Anchorman. I got about 2 minutes into it, before I turned it off and set fire to the TV.

Nah Anchorman was pretty funny and I hate Hollywood comedies. Give it a chance.

And yeah, I can tell very quickly whether or not I want to know someone by how often they quote movies. If it's more than once a month, you're fired from my monkeysphere.

"Death is but a door, time is but a window, I'll be back."

Anyone who hasn't seriously considered using that as their epitaph is a douche.

Quoting movies is a given at any gaming table. If you don't have at least a 4:1 normal statement to movie quote ratio, your gaming group is way too fucking serious.

Eh, generally it's either old school Simpsons quotes or old school Family Guy quotes.
