Looks pretty much like I imagined. I am sure it's pretty fun with some buddies. I wonder if they will have local multiplayer.

So... does anyone else have this game? What do you think of it? I got it yesterday and played for a couple of hours. It seems to really be focused on multiplayer. I am a bit irritated that you have to go all the way back or around a map to a tome just to switch your gear and you cant just pause and go into a menu, but it's something I can get used to. I had to spend some time grinding early on just to buy a decent weapon from the shop, cause doing 5 damage to enemies sucks. It seems to have potential. Also, the music in the first stage sounds to me like something off a Yngwie Malmsteen album.

A friend of mine got it as well, he says the single player is really laughable considering the 2nd boss can move freely around the map.

I played the demo. It's not bad, would be a lot easier with a second player/character other than Alucard. I don't think it's worth 1200 points...

This is the main reason I'm pissed that my 360 broke. I have been waiting for this game for a couple months now, and less than a week before it comes out is when my 360 decides to die. Dammit I want to play this game!

I haven't played or bought this yet, cuz I'm broke til payday.

I did buy castlevania: encore of the night for my iPod for $4.99. It's basically SotN cuz u get to explore the castle and upgrade your stats and also equip new weapons and armor etc etc, but instead of being an action game, when u get to a new room, u fight a baddie in a puzzle match. It's a simple match 3 colors puzzle game, but it is quite fun. I enjoy it so far, and it's only $5. So, if u need a new game for the iPod, I would recommend this.

how do the different characters play? All I've seen is alucard in action.

My friend's played as everyone. He says Charlotte sucks (likely because she'd really benefit from having Johnathan around for co-op combos), Soma still has his soul abilities, he's had to grind against magic users to get glyphs for Shanoa, and Johnathan has things like Defensive Stance built in (yes he still gets subweapons).

I just bought this game. It's pretty fun, but stupid hard. I hate it anyways though, why? the same damn reason I hated pikmen, THERES A FUCKING TIME LIMIT ON EVERYTHING! I totally wasted my money! The time limit ruins the fun of games. Also they made it so it's actually impossible to play single player since most of the puzzles require at least 2 people. All of the characters handle almost exactly like they did in their original games. But I didn't play as alucard and I haven't played his game so I don't know about him. You die too many damn times to the iron maidens.

ONLY BUY IF YOU HAVE 4 OTHER CLOSE FRIENDS WHO BUY IT AND ALL LOVE CASTLEVANIA ENOUGH TO SPEND SEVERAL HOURS DIEING MORE THAN LEVEL 85 OF N.

Ya, I wanted it up until I saw X-Play's review that basically said you will like it if you like the series and have friends to play it with. A Castlevania I can't play by myself to get the full experience has little interest to me.

It's too bad because I love the Castlevania series and this actually looked fun. Time limits and a game that doesn't really function for single-player won't fly since I don't have anyone to play this with.

I'm seriously considering getting it. No, I don't have any friends that'll pick it up in the near future, but I found the challenge of it refreshing and I actually liked having the time limit motivate me to do more than just piddle around the levels and min/max in order to beat the boss.

Btw, that first boss fight kicked ass. It shot laser beams throughout the whole stage.

DLC Leaked!

New stage and two characters are leaked. New stage is a pyramid (from Portrait of Ruin), and judging from the boss room, the boss is Astarte, which will spell trouble for the playable male characters (in Portrait of Ruin, Astarte could control the male character if they were out and force them to fight the female character. Quite a difficult battle, as I never bothered to pump Charlotte up effectively).

New characters are:
Julius Belmont from Aria/Dawn of Sorrow (YES!)
Maria Renard from Rondo of Blood/Symphony of the Night (I knew it...)

Judging from the photos, these are separate downloads. And due to the small file sizes, these are just unlock purchases (Ala Street Fighter 4's costumes).

ARRG...Screw it! I'm going to go play Portrait of Ruin again. Stupid Red Ring. And to think I was making fun of the PS3 fanboys on Gamefaqs who were bitching about this being 360 exclusive.

Is it possible to play this game multiplayer with additional controllers and physical people on the same console or must you be online?
