I like that they're splitting them into two movies. I wish they had started doing this from Book 4. There's so much in the books that it sucks just how much they've already cut out.
Books 4-7 are better than the first 3 because Rowling was able to basically do whatever she wanted. They moved from almost completely kids books (though Book 3 definitely is darker than the first two) to books for both kids and adults. She expanded a lot of the mythology, and was able to flesh out a lot of characters and stories. The movies, limited to 2 to 2 1/2 hours had to cut out so much vital information, that the ending in the movie may be a big letdown. I didn't think the final battle in Book 7 was a letdown at all...there was a lot of set-up that went into it and I felt satisfied with the payoff. It's actually a somewhat complicated ending when you get into the 'rules' of the wands among other things. I enjoyed the last book quite a bit. I'm glad that a lot of it will be presented over the course of two films.
