Actually kinda neat, but the font is stupid.

I recently bought a shirt from hot topic that had this image on it:
I kinda wish I had one with this on it though:

The reason that I don't shop at Hot Topic is the same reason that I don't buy Apple products: the userbase. That, and the shirts that they print on kind of suck. And there isn't one anywhere close to here. This reminds me, I have to use my T-shirt transfers that I've had for months.

HT is a store I go into and ignore everyone because they're goth-heads and just look at what they have. I mean, who in their right mind DOESN'T want this shirt:
It's actually not a bad store to go window shopping in, and they often have great music shirts too. It's just the goth that gets tired. And their prices are a bit too high, too.

I've been to my local Hot Topic a few times over the last six months or so, and I swear I've never seen it so dead in there since it opened about ten years back.
Their prices are too damn high, and some of the shirts are cool, but they're poor quality.

I'm pretty sure that if they opened up a Hot Topic here, it would be mostly goth shit. The market on game shirts, while not oversaturated, is already sufficiently full.

This, pretty much. Hot Topic is full of 80% scenester crap that shallow teenagers like to pretend they're into because it makes them feel like they have an opinion on something.
About that other twenty percent, though...Hot Topic has some pretty good stuff if you dig and look around. I've gotten a Cure t-shirt, a Pearl Jam t-shirt, a bunch of neat video game shirts, a wallet with the classic NES controller on it, and a Resident Evil hoodie there.

The former is very much true, although most of the t-shirts I've gotten there have lasted a good two years or so (though don't bother buying any flannel from there).

I consider a good shirt one that lasts about four years, though. That might be a bit outrageous, but I'm just now retiring some shit that I got in middle school.

The designs on Hot Topic shirts are getting ridiculously big and ugly. I went in to replace my classic-style Ramones t-shirt, and found that they replaced the regular Let's Go Eagle Design with just a gigantic logo that takes up the whole shirt and RAMONES written with letters the size of my head.

So here's to you Mrs. Robinson. People love you more- oh, nevermind. |

I usually duck into HT if I find one, like most of you said because of the cool game and comic shirts they have. Got a wonderful Deadpool shirt there once, along with a different style "know your roots" (that had blocky letters instead of that ugly font there.) Also got a fantastic Thundercats logo tee, and a GI Joe wrist band (that I secretly wear under my gloves when we're out in the field...it cracks me up.)
Overall I hate the place, but I grit my teeth and do business with 'em because...c'mon, who else sells Thundercats stuff at my local mall??

The designs you see on the shirts, particularly the band shirts, are also those more modern "tattoo" and looks like it "has paint splattered on it" designs which I hate.

If I need a shirt, I just hit up eBay.

THIS. I don't know if that's the trend now, because even when I search for band shirts online, it's hard to find ones that don't have gigantic print/images that take up the entire front of the shirt. I like my t-shirt imagery to be smaller, and generally centered upon the chest. I don't recall it being that difficult to find shirts that met this criteria back in the 90's.

I've noticed that, too. I don't know who thought that was a good idea, but it wasn't. It's getting harder and harder to find shirts that look more like the older ones, so whenever I buy one, it's usually second hand and old.

There needs to be a silent rule that if you have not played ANY classic mario games (Super Mario bros. 1, or 2, or 3, or Super Mario World) then you CANNOT wear these shirts and be considered "cool" even in the loosest sense

I remember a while ago they had this really rad light blue zip up sweatshirt that had the R.P.D. lettering on it. I wish I could find that shirt now.

The only time I was ever in a Hot Topic was when I went to a mall in the early 2000s with a friend and saw a Thrall/Demonsweatlive T-shirt. Of course, I bought it, because I'd just lost the black skull w/horns one I got at the State Theater show on Halloween in Detroit (my first road trip where I didn't come home to my parents for over a day, coincidentally). Other than that, I dunno. People can buy whatever the hell they want, but if I talk to someone wearing, say, a Zelda t-shirt and they can't tell me what the old man says in the first cave, I might punch 'em.
