Sharks aren't mammals, they are fish. Dolphins, which did evolve from the Mesonychiad, have the shame general shape as Sharks, which is what I think Lesh was saying.

I'm quite aware that sharks are fish.

Like I said before, sharks and dolphins live in the same sort of habitat and evolved to better suit their survival.

And also like I said before, for an alien race to adapt the exact same way that we do would be highly unlikely. Not impossible, but just not likely.
