I don't think anybody's pointed this out yet, but go read the in-game instruction manual. It's a hoot, describing the game's "lost" history ranging from the old NES videogame contests to the modern day. Jimmy Fallon included.

Haha, nice man, I hadn't noticed that, Capcom really put all of those extra little touches there.

Also, don't let the mediocre reviews of its console big brother deter you, this game is fantastic.

i think it's funny that every time capcom spends tons of bank and effort to try to update an old franchise they get shit reviews, but they half ass an 8-bit megaman and people love it.

Nostalgia is a powerful thing. I'd love to see new updates to the Mega Man series that aren't 8-bit but judging from how well 9 was received I doubt that'll happen, Starforce excluded.

There's a lot of hate for 7 and 8 as well. Mega Man's sprite is waaaay too fucking big in 7. Also, and this sort of weird complaint, those games are too colorful. Mega Man 8 especially looks like rainbow vomit.

I could never get into 7 for some reason. The sprite size bothered me, but I can't really remember why I didn't like it.

I agree with the sprite size in 7 however I liked 8's proportions and colors in 8, even if they were a bit bright.

This, exactly. I liked 7 except for the sprite (I hated more than just the size) . I thought 8 looked pretty good.

I'm with andrew on this one. It just felt like SNES was Megaman X's territory.

Oh ya, the X series is one of the best action offerings on the SNES.

Something about 7 feels awkward, down to the way Megaman runs around, I dunno.

Also, despite my love for the retro style they are keeping here with MM10, I love what other companies can do with 2D/HD hybrids these days.

Take a game like BlazBlue (a fighter I know) released last year, it looks gorgeous. The visuals are so detailed and vivid, that it is almost painful to look at since everything is in such crisp, sharp, popping high-definition. A Megaman game running on something like that would look unbelievable and I think it's honestly right up Capcom's alley (look at SF2 HD Remix), it's just a matter of time before we get a title like that. The question is, when they finally get around to dropping a title like that would it be in the original series (possibly X), or some lame spin-off.

I don't mind the spin-offs honestly. As long as it's a fun sidescroller I don't care which series it is from. As long as they avoid the horrible gimmicks in X6 and 7 then I'll probably enjoy it. I'm easy to please though. I don't care about new innovations either way as long as I get to face new bosses and run through new levels with good music.

Do you mean something like Maverick Hunter X and Mega Man Powered Up, both on PSP?

Aside from the level editor, Mega Man Powered Up was a piece of crap.

Hahaha, I do like the music they re-worked for it, however I could do without the art style and a majority of the sound effects.
